PS3HEN PS3HEN - Official Release Thread (Homebrew Enabler for the PS3) v3.5.0 (4.93 support)

but if it exists "CFW EVILNAT 4.88.2 COBRA 8.3 [CEX] [noBT]" it could also be done with HFW 4.88.1

No it isn't possible. HFW is 100% official Sony firmware files. HFW is done by using files for 4.82 before Sony patched the SPRX in the browser. So they just grab the OFW 4.82 file and add it to 4.88 HFW.

As for the no-BD you can't as it is actually patching the firmware itself. Thus will refuse to boot as it isn't signed with the new keys. If we had access to this there would be no reason for HEN as every system no matter the hardware would be able to install CFW.

You would need to be able to decrypt the firmware. Make the needed patches then package it back with the new metldr2 keys. But alas due to Sony properly implementing ECDSA this time there is nothing chance of getting the keys needed to do this.

Had Sony of not been so careless and cocky about their hardware we most likely wouldn't have any way to use homebrew as HEN came along using tricks known from years of CFW development. They were able to convert HAN which only came around due to another failure in how some PKG files were signed. This with the Cobra code is how we got HEN and homebrew for all PS3 systems.

I was flashing my ps3 slim (it had an official 4.88) CECH-2511B with HFW 4.88.1 reached 55% and restarted. I remain in an infinite loop. You have a damaged bluetooth module. Is there a way to go back to the original firmware or the HFW 4.88.1 without repairing the bluetooth and without disassembling the ps3?

Nobody can answer you without knowing exactly what the "original firmware" you are talking about was?
If it was OFW 4.88, HFW 4.88 is exactly the same thing, the only difference being one single file located on the internal hdd called silk_webkit.sprx (the PS3 Internet browser engine from OFW 4.82). Attempting to return to OFW 4.88 would make no difference whatsoever & be a waste of your time. Also if a HFW 4.88 installation over OFW 4.88 failed, the current firmware would still be OFW 4.88 anyway.

Is your slim 25xx CFW compatible?
If not, you cannot use patched firmwares, noBD and/or noBT patches cannot be deployed on non-CFW compatibles & without those patches, firmwares cannot be installed if BD and/or BT are malfunctioning.

Anyway, a noBT patched CFW is not really a viable solution to keep using a console without BT, it is only a way to be able to change CFW on a CFW compatible console with malfunctioning BT.

The problem is not firmware based it is hardware based, if the Bluetooth module is malfunctioning you need to have it repaired or changed & if ever you cannot for whatever reason, you should probably consider changing console altogether.
A malfunctioning BT module impacts GameOS at different levels, it's not just a matter of no longer using Bluetooth devices, certain system routines simply fail to run properly when BT is malfunctioning.

the firmware I had was OFW 4.88

my FW now is 4.85.
should i download new FW 4.88 before update HEN 4.88?
you only have to update to 4.88 if you want to use PSN. however you do have to install HFW before HEN, so you might as well install HFW 4.88 anyway (just in case you want to use PSN later).

i see
so if i want to use PSN, must update to 4.88...
But, is it okay to update directly 4.88 HFW, without update 4.88 Original FW from Sony?

hey bro
My super slim PS3 is 4.22 official(and Update 4.87) than when I want to jailbreak it by ps3exploit, it notifies me that your ps3 is not compatible. how can I do that? thanx
