PS3HEN PS3HEN Open Beta Testing [For Advanced Users Only]

I have version 3.3.0 and using the file manager from the USB or HDD, I cannot install the PKG. Now I have tried using the internet browser with the URL http://ps3xploit.me/hen/installer/auto/dev/index.html, the file downloads but always ends up giving an error

Oh i forgot to report it to you @esc0rtd3w when i installed via http://ps3xploit.me/hen/installer/auto/dev/index.html it installed the 3.3.0 version too not the 3.3.1

I had to install it via pkg.

@esc0rtd3w I tried to install the HFW again to install this 3.3.1 from scratch through the URL and it ends up installing 3.3.0. After the installation and restart, when you activate HEN, it shows 3.3.0, and when you format the console, the feature that HEN survives after a system format does not work.

Edit: All work now!!

Yeap, the url was installing the 3.3.0 version instead of 3.3.1, so the new features were not there.

what kind of system are you using? I can see hen surviving a format on a 4K system, but not one where you have to reinstall the firmware like some later 2.5K, and some, if not all, 3K. I don't know when they started to introduce emmc, but it does seem to be like Nand consoles, where the firmware is installed to the internal chips.
The HDD survival is a feature of HEN beta and is not specific to console revision, as it works the same for all.

The dev URL should install the 3.3.1 pkg, if you have the development mode turned on in HEN via HFW Tools -> Development. (I forgot to mention that.)

I see you got it working with pkg though.

Thank you for testing the HDD survival feature.

Much appreciated :encouragement:

Edit: You can also temporarily turn on dev mode with a file on USB, called dev_build_type.on, that will be read when henplugin runs.

I forgot to mention that development mode needs turned on via HFW Tools to use the dev URL for pkg, otherwise it uses release URL.

This is just a small update to previous one. If anyone else wants to test, it should have the exact same behavior. The code related to making RIF files has been refactored from mappath to make_rif source and header files. OP has been updated to reflect changes, and all older test pkgs have been archived.

Test #3 (12/01/2024): Refactored make_rif functions

PKG Only (4.91 CEX): http://ps3xploit.me/hen/openbeta/La...1_signed-491C--test18-refactored_make_rif.pkg

Developer HTML Installer (Use on PS3): http://ps3xploit.me/hen/installer/auto/dev/index.html

NOTE: To enable DEV pkg downloading, you must either place a file called "dev_build_type.on" onto USB, or use HFW Tools option to enable Developer Mode. While DEV mode is active, the pkg URL downloaded will be the DEV version and not the RELEASE one.

Anyone who wants to test can test normal things, plus the following:
  • - Format HDD after install and verify the "Enable HEN" icon and xml has switched to "Recovery Mode" (for advanced users only. DON'T DELETE YOUR CRAP lol)
  • - Test emergency installer (place HEN_UPD.pkg on USB ports available)
  • - Check that WebmanMOD and other plugins only get disabled during HTML installer
  • - Test cleaning PSN files from HFW Tools -> Maintenance
  • - Test creating new PS1/PS2 memory cards after mounting PS1 ISO (PS2 ISO not compatible anyways?)

When you mount a PS1/PS2 ISO and don't have a memory card set up, a prompt will appear, asking the user to create one. Selecting YES will automatically navigate to the memory card creation screen. But if this query doesn't exist, nothing will happen!

that kinda reminds me of that one file you can create for ubuntu called something like hush.login or something, where it negates all this extra text when you open ubuntu. the file itself is blank, just needs to exist iirc.

Try adding Semi Permanence? By replacing HFW 4.91 flash files with OFW 4.82. Not exactly LV1 but will it work on reboot? Without re enabling. @esc0rtd3w @aldostools
For what reason would you do this though?

I would say, in theory, you could probably replace most files, except the vsh and it would probably work, but what's the benefit? Most of the sprx, rco, etc are basically the same.

based on the fact that @LuanTeles got firmware less than 1.00 to work on a 2.5K console by replacing all of dev_blind, it sounds like it should work. I've never tried it, but afaik, you can actually delete all of dev_blind, and still recover with the recovery menu.

This is just another small update. Code was refactored from mappath to homebrew_blocker, to more closely match current COBRA code base. Also mutex functions were updated in mappath.

Test #4 (12/06/2024): Refactored homebrew_blocker

NOTE: The homebrew blocker feature is still inactive, just as it always has been. The functionality of HEN should remain the same as last beta version. Future updates to HEN release pkg will enable restoring and checking syscalls to use this feature.

PKG Only (4.91 CEX): http://ps3xploit.me/hen/openbeta/La...-491C--test19-refactored_homebrew_blocker.pkg
