PS3 PS3's serial number

When I looked around at my PS3's flash-dumps, I see something "strange" that maybe someone can explain. On my two CECHA01 both have:
"board_id (part of console S/N) : 27430155"
and when I look around at logs from other dumps, this is recurring on the ones I've seen (same number: 27430155). These numbers are also not in the serial number of any of my CECHA01 machines. There is only "CEyyyyyyyyy-CECHA01"
When I instead look at my CECHA00 (Japan), it has a significantly longer serial number that starts with, for example: "02-xxxxxxxx-yyyyyyy-CECHA00". Just like CECHC04 (Europe) eg: "03-xxxxxxxx-yyyyyyy-CECHC04". Or 02-xxxxxxxx-yyyyyyy-CECH-2004B.
When I look at the flash dumps for these PS3s, the "xxxxxxxx" number always matches the "board_id (part of console S/N)" that you get from e.g. PyPS3 checker.
Is there any good explanation…?

It's the product ID, in EU and Asia we don't have CE1*CECHAXX, CE3*-CECHBXX, CE9*CECHEXX etc as an identifer, for example my PSV shows two serials, HA00XXXXX then 03-2741XXXX-*

HA is just the 03-2741XXXX- part shortened, one thing worth noting about serial on the box is the 03/02 part at the beginning isn't shown so you gotta cut that part out of the serial and combine them, if unsure if it's an 0X- for first part can look up another unit of same product ID is almost always the same, for example when im buying used listings i almost never trust region or model in listing so I am always looking at product numbers in say case of a PS4 and checking the region, this is also useful when they dont take proper photos but there is hints as to what the system is, for example bundles, region, different colours and limited editions or capacities such as CECH-2500A, CECH-2500B will have different product ID thus first part of serial number will be unique so you can tell if someone has done a case swap.

Though I've noticed that there is earlier and later variants of the A00 & B00 product number for japan, not sure if its a case of exceeding the unit count or a minor revision change on the board but something worth mentioning, sure someone knows the answer.

C models have 02, 08 and 09 starting serials. I was told 09 was used for official Frankies however someone else reported an C model with 08 in its serial that was also frankied by Sony.

Oh Sony, you inconsistent klutz.

More of an example, I've seen an 08- on a J model though never an 09, interesting to know

Thread bump.
Is it possible to recover the full serial number from the case sticker using a flash dump?
I have an EU-type serial like this:

According to wiki: https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/Flash:Individual_System_Data_-_cISD#cISD1
I know where to find board_id, but where to find the rest of the numbers? CID doesn't match with the second half of the numbers from the sticker. Should it? :confused3:

I don't know about a flash dump, but I'm pretty sure you can get the serial number from the syscon. It's also possible you have a swapped shell. I know from experience, when it comes to selling systems, that some people want the serial number for the system and the box to be the same. That's the only reason I still own my last hacked console - a 3ds, since the system and box serial numbers don't match. A friend didn't want it as a result.

That's actually why I asked the question. I wanted to confirm that my boxed machines (CECHA01, CECHB01 & CECHC04) have the same serial number on the machine, box, and flash dump (that they belong together).

About 2 months ago I noticed that some commands have different permissions and the bsn (board serial number) command is one of them. I explained the situation to Rip-Felix, but he also didn't know how to use the command, so I asked M4jor a question and he said that the command exists but has not been implemented (except in the Cytology DECR-1000).

I would also like to confirm the serial numbers, I have a CECHB01 that has a sticker on the side with a barcode and serial number that is different from the label on the back of the PS3, I got this CECHB01 used, but I remember that it was sealed (I still have it).

I believe that it should not be easy to obtain such information from a dump (I will still make one) because otherwise the information about the board's serial number would already exist in the various homebrews.

If you still have the barcode use Google Lens, or if you have parts of the bars you can try to reconstruct them with some software, I did this on a Dreamcast, I reconstructed the bar in Inkscape, I used Google Lens and got the Serial

Went to pick up my launch machine from my mother and father. Was surprised when I saw that it has date code 8A. Turns out it has a KES-410 in it :) Well, it also has 08- at the beginning of the serial number. I don't think this has a 40nm RSX inside though.

I've don't often see a serial number start with 00-… before.

But now I've also seen another PS3 (date code 7A) with:
00-KS31B05K-…..
what does it mean?
