so no one knows how long this update will take and if so is there not a way to do it without the site(**ps3xploit.com >Domain no Longer owned by team** (ps3xploit.me =new))

It'll be up when it's up. Asking in multiple threads won't make it come back faster.

The PS3 Toolset v1.1 update was planned to roll out on Xmas day but unfortunately during the necessary testing, prelude to any decent release, a potential lag inducing issue was found in the new logs implementation & I have had to find time over Xmas day & yesterday to fix it.

A new round of testing is currently under way, so far so good & at the current rate, I expect the site to be back up and running soon.

I warned before that the update roll out would only happen once I was satisfied with testing results, I meant it. ;-)
I am trying to avoid, if at all possible, having to push fix after fix after the release, I would rather focus on the next task at hand in my extended to-do list.

Regarding this new version, let's manage expectations, it doesn't bring many new features to users except 4.81 & 4.87 support & extended logging.
Yet there are extensive changes behind the scenes, I put in place a new worker thread system, relying on semaphores & mutexes, to improve synchronisation & load balancing as well as other essential features in order to run the kind of intensive workloads that a tool like a file manager typically produces. This release to bring 4.87 support provides a perfect opportunity to test this new multithreaded ROP infrastructure on a large scale before introducing the file manager tool to the public. While the back end is already coded, the file manager GUI is not yet completed anyway, it will take another few weeks of work.

Not quite. File manager should be a "few weeks" The current maintenance won't be including the file manager, but just the update for 4.87 and it should be "soon", probably less than weeks unless there are some surprises for them to deal with.

ok so when the update comes out i can jailbreak my ps3 with cause i am on OFW 4.87
sorry for asking so much questions

I don't have enough info to answer that specific question. What's your console model version/date? What's the minver? Not all consoles can install CFW. You need to have a minver of 3.56 or less. If your minver is 3.56 or lower, then yes, if it's 3.60 or higher then HEN is your only option. As far as the OFW being 4.87, yes, that won't be a problem, that's what the update is to support.

i am on 4.86, slim verison -21xx. I guess i dont need to update to 4.87 to use the tool after it has been realsed right. But actually is there any benefit to use 4.87? thanks.

4.86 or 4.87 shouldn't make a difference. You should be able to jailbreak either with the toolset once it's back. After you jailbreak, then install CFW, then you should toggle the QA flag and once you do that you can go back to older firmware if you want.

is it risky to use https://web.archive.org/web/2020120... Longer owned by team** (ps3xploit.me =new)/ for jailbreak 4.86 in the mean time? just dont wanna waste the holiday...

I couldn't say one way or the other, no idea how deeply the wayback machine actually backs up. If you really want a mod in the meantime just installing 4.86/4.87 HFW and HEN is probably safer.

it is basically 'new' nth is in the machine yet, if i just wanna install cfw and explore what i can do with it after installing. going to hen is an option but CFW is prefered =/

I meant that I'm not entirely sure if that archive thoroughly and faithfully backs up the toolset and if it doesn't who knows what could go wrong. I would wait for the actual site to come back up and if I really wanted one form of mod in the meantime I would run HEN for now instead of risking a brick, unless you have a flasher and a backup of the nor. If your question is should you do it with that archive, I have no idea, if your question is would I personally do it with that archive, no, I absolutely would not.
