PS4 PS4 Boot log

Hi all,

I have a couple of PS4 I need to look at and I was looking at guides/tutorials/schematics, anything which is more than the usual checking for shorts/overheating components/adding washers.

On the PS3 we have Syscon to help. I stumbled on a PS4 repair youtube video where a comment mentioned "dump the flash to enable debug and read boot logs through uart".

I googled a bit but I could not find any info about that. Can someone please point me to somewhere where I can learn more about that process?

Thank you!

Let me reply to my own post - to show I am trying! :)

I found a couple of videos, this one is the most relevant (as I cannot access the PS4):

I do have a programmer and the chip I see on the video is supported (only thing, I am not sure whether I should select OTP (one time password?) or not on the programmer but I wouldn't know what the password is so maybe it's not relevant).

So my understanding is that the chip needs to be removed, plugged into the programmer and the content extracted. Then the file needs to ve verified with PS4 NOR validator which will also patch the file for UART output. At the point the NOR chip should be erased, re-programmed and re-installed on the motherboard.

Finally, UART connections should be made on the board, plugged into an RS232 adaptor and Putty will read the output while the PS4 tries to boot up.

Comments?
