PSN - Change ID (name) or make a new account?

Potentially a stupid question:

I bought a PS4 a couple of months ago and used my old PSN account to sign in.
Now I wanna change the ID (name) but I have heard that there might be some problems connected to doing so.
You might also encounter some compatibility issues after making a name change. PS3, PS Vita, and PS/TV games don't support changed usernames at all, and some PS4 games might not be fully compatible with changed usernames, which can result in lost saved game data

I have never used my PSN account much on my PS3, which I mostly used offline. I only used the PSN account to activate the system. I haven't bought any games (except free to play ones) on either PS3 or PS4.
So making a new account would seem easier, right?

Does anyone have any pros and/or cons to pitch?

And, all of the mentioned systems are original/un-hacked/OFW.

Changing your psnID corrupts PS3's hard drive, forcing an initialization (according to this video:
).
Whoa. I knew I had a reason for asking this. That settles it.
So, I assume it's just changing the an ID that creates that awful mess, not logging out of it and then logging back in with a new one?

I'm wondering why this is even an issue? Sony recognizing users by NP Account ID on theirs platforms, not by Account Name which user chose during registration.

Actually not directly. Changing user name results that this specific game has been froze and user is forced to reset or turn off the console by unsafe way (which means HDD can writing something and use doesn't allow him to finish). While doing that, You always risking on file system corrupt. My PS3 several times frozen (mostly in 'Bugthesda' games ;)) and few times I saw fschck screen.

Yes, I might be overthinking this one, lol. Just wanted to ask since it seems like, especially with the PS3, things can go south with ID changes.
