PS3 PSNpatch - Releases / Usage Information (Official Support Thread)

...koko apparently tried this without experiencing any problems so now am curious.

Yes. And unfortunately without being able to replicate the problem there isn't much more I can do.

If someone is able to replicate the same issues REPORT IT HERE AND DO NOT FORMAT THE DISK !!!

First try to reinstall firmware from the recovery menu.
If it doesn't work, try the hdd swapping method:
insert another hdd, allow PS3 to format it and install the firmware there.
Then replace the original disk: if the PS3 asks for firmware again, reinstall it. If not, force firmware reinstall from the recovery menu.

kokotonix i had reply on the topic of rebug ;)

bguerville, i've a Slim model (2000 model, 250gb version), and a Fat model too (160 version), i can make some test on it too, but only on the end of the week to see if it happens too

Ok fine guys.
I hsve had weird issues on my 210x that don't hapoen on mu 250x.
Yours is a 200x.
I will try all this, following koko steps as described above.
kapa
If you're still interested in getting to the bottom of this then I suggest you do the same steps if you can, we'll compare results when we have them. Does it sound reasonable?
If you cannot though , no problem ok?
Same as you, it has to wait a eeek or so...

bguerville, just want you to know that my slim is a 2004b model and my fat is a CECHP04 ;)

So, it seems that we have 4 different models to make some tests ;)

What's the process for using PSN PATCH plugin (properly) with Rebug 4.76.1 LITE?

In Rebug Cobra 7.1 overview it mention PSNpatch stealth support in regards to compatibility with ISOs, IDK why unless they include PSN patch plugin and/or no longer use and promote SEN enabler. I haven't installed 4.76.1 Rebug yet, just wanted to make sure there isn't any specific instructions since 4.75.1, .2 and .3 all had problems with PSN patch or led to confusion on how it all worked together.

EDIT:
(I rather use this than my current setup which is HABIB 4.75 w/ 4.76 spoofer, since current CFW is safer than spoofers)

a) install rebug lite 4.76.1
b) install rebug toolbox (see rebug notes) , activate cobra, reboot
c) install psnpatch - go to the toolbox menu, activate psnpatch plugin. apply (will rebot)
[edit]: to activate psnpatch press the combo in XMB - more info and additional functions detailed in the docs.

What joonie meant in rebug descritpion is that the cobra 7.1 included in rebug already includes a process of directly disabling (partially) the syscalls.
This process can be used by any other tool that uses those new opcodes.

But psnpatch includes a new process in which it disables COMPLETELY the CFW syscalls, including syscall8 (cobra core).
As cobra is disabled, until next reboot, you will not be able to mount other games besides the one already mounted.
There are some (few) games that may not work well with this, unless they are converted and mounted as ISO.

In other words:
Q: Do you have a game that doesn't work after psnpatch disabled the syscalls ?
A: Convert it to ISO format !

[edit]
NOTE:
This new process is called stealth3 extensions is based in a temporary payload that hooks a random syscall to then disable all the others. In the end it exits gracefully, leaving the syscall table and memory exactly as it was before.

Precisely, "sys_aio_copy_root()" <- this call is needed for those folder games that require BD-Mirror and psnPATCH disables this FYI PatrickBatman

which is why ISO rip is required for full functionality with stealthmode

I couldn't have said it better :D

I have yet to run into a game that doesn't work after disabling syscalls (the only iso games i have are 4GB+ iso on external, rest are folder format) I did however get blackscreen with some games after using the Zuma stealthed Iris Manager so recently I've just said eff it and been using webMAN to mount my games as its compatibility is the best (as i've read others using webMAN to mount and not getting banned) of course webMAN is disabled after it mounts when disabling syscalls (with PSN patch plugin). Didn't realize people were having problems after disabling sycalls with certain games.
EDIT:
So basically besides making all my 4gb+ file games into iso to be on external I need to make all my BD-Mirror games iso as well when using PSN patch, even though I think mounting with webMAN solves this (haven't tried a 2nd mount without a reboot). And of course I disabled Bd-Mirror on games that needed it (habit, OCD) because I've been using Cobra ever since they released the source. Also, I've always rebooted after wanting to mount a 2nd game not because I thought it wouldn't play but because I thought that was a protocol to avoid getting banned.

Koko already is aware but I have over 300 games (used to be a tester) I wasn't aware of this issue and haven been out of the testing game since I tested for N0DRM and aldo, but I will look out for these games that don't operate well under these conditions mentioned. Anyway, thanks Joonie and KW makes more since now.

There is a very short list of games that only work in ISO after PSNPatch disabled the syscalls.
An example is Advanced Warfare.

[EDIT]
Note: A word of recommendation: every game that has many files (thousands) should be converted to iso and placed internally. This way you will help the PS3 file system (or the USB hdd) in performance and against corruption issues.
two examples ares LBP3 and Dishonored, both having ten of thousand files.

I have both those games, you would figure they could compress those files into a psarc/sdat like every other company.

1) How to mount games after syscalls disabled (I thought backup managers and webman were disabled by psn patch)?

2) Is it safe to mount another game without rebooting and use PSN? for one whatever you use/do to mount it would be added to the logs
(I've always rebooted thinking it was for psn/online safety not because some games won't work after syscalls disabled)

1) not possible. You have to reboot before mounting another game.

2) No. It is not safe. But 1) indirectly takes care of it ;)

Hi all:

New psnpatch release 2015.9/A

  • - NEW Version spoofer warning: PSNPatch displays the real and the spoofed cfw version in the main menu - a good version spoofer (when one is available) MUST BE invisible to PSNPatch;
    - Added PSNPatch toolbox setup of plugin on-boot auto features (auto-spoof IDPS & IDPS) (*);
    - Improved rebug (lite) detection for proper handling of webman xmb menu icons;
    - Updated included webman-mod (cobra and non-cobra) to version 1.43.04 (lite version) - webman-mod cobra version should be compatible with every cobra versions (past and future);
    - Confirmed support for 4.76 CFW with all the CORE functions - just a confirmation: no changes were made in the source code - PSNPatch continues to be firmware version independent :)

(*) This could already be done directly in PSNPatch plugin by keeping pressed L3+R3+R2 during boot until the "auto mode" message is displayed, but doing it from the PSNPatch toolbox seems to be easier for some users.

NOTE:
A quick Remember for those who preferred not to read past versions release notes:
PSNPatch plugin locks psn access until CFW is disabled.
For best protection the plugin should always be installed.
The plugin can be installed in cobra and non-cobra systems(for non-cobra use the also included plugin handler).

READ BEFORE ASKING:
99% + of the issues and questions placed from users during the past months were already answered in this document and/or the FAQ included in the distribution.

Ok kapa
Holidays are over!
We can start testing this plugin issue with cobra enabled/disabled if you want.

If you are busy right now let me know as I also have a few tests to do regarding 210x 'hanging' problems with some types of reboot system calls then report results to aldostools.
