Hi

Im wondering why ALL the version i tested have the very same result
we heard NO in-game music in this particulary very good Japanese Vertical SHUMPS (shoot'em up).

I tested all version NTSC-J , NTSC : same result
did this game need to be patched or something that im missing ?

You can heard the music im talking about here :

Someone please...

Make sure your cue is formatted correctly. It should point to just the bin, and not an entire path. So it should have written inside the cue "gamename.bin" and not "c:\users\username\documents\gamename.bin" or whatever. The cue file must have the same filename as the bin file. (besides

Also you can check your dump in a PC emulator and see if you can hear the sound there. It's possible this could be the 0.2% of games that don't work correctly.

For my own collection, my multitrack games were originally ripped as multi-bin files. But since every thing on PS3 reads bin for XMB but uses cue for audio, I used poweriso to convert my multi-track multi-bin games into multi-track single-bin games.

its a single .bin .cue
both named exactly the same (title)
I had this problem before with Tomb Raider I-II & legacy of kain : Soul Reaver
I think i needed a.sbi file if my memories are good or someone have patched the games to work correctly
right now my poor power laptop is rushing having hard time ripping TV serie boxset i have a home i will check that later when i will have finished this

thanks for your answer hartleyshc , its really appreciated!

In WebMAN MOD setup, go to the "Scan for content" settings and check ps1_netemu next to "PLAYSTATION®." Or, simply hold L2 when you mount the game.

This will fix the game. The default ps1_emu kinda sucks and has a lot of incompatibilities compared to netemu.

Your memories are not so bad, but this games are a bit special, i suggest to forget them by now and try first with other easyer games, the ones reported as "playable" and "works fine" on this list
https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/PS1_Classics_Emulator_Compatibility_List

The problem with tomb raider games seems to be related with the audio codec, right now we dont know if there is some way to fix it by changing some emulator settings... so the popular way to fix them is to use this patches
https://www.psx-place.com/threads/tomb-raider-i-and-ii-patches.30348/

Soul reaver is one of the few games using a protection named "libcrypt". Only games released in the PAL region uses libcrypt (with titleID starting with SLES-xxxxx)
The libcrypt protection is based on data "hidden" in subchannels of the CD, the .SBI files are intended to store that data but in PS3 we dont have support for .SBI so the solution is to apply a patch to the game to disable the libcrypt protection
Download this collection made by @krHACKen https://www.psx-place.com/threads/p...s3-official-emus-research-thread.35836/page-6

If you game is not in his collection... then you should search for the "old-school" patches released many years ago, are availables in some webs
You have a list of the libcrypt protected games here
https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/PS1_Custom_Patches
And some more info with links here:
https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/Talk:PS1_Custom_Patches

As said... the libcrypt protection was used only in the games released in PAL region (SLES-xxxxx), otherway if the game is from a different region there is no need to worry

I remember a thread on a different forum about this game years ago, its NOT a CDDA game and its not a multitrack game, but all CD versions don't play music, but if you buy it off the US PSN store under the name Shienryu it does have working music, i remember someone else at the time found if you make a PS1Classic from the original cd it also has music so if you really want to play the game with music you need to make a PS1Classic for PS3, hope this helps

It help very much indeed my friend !
thanks yo uso much for your answer :)

Im trying to learn how to make PS1 pkg (mostly for multi discs game like FFVII FFVIII etc etc) just to have an option to switch discs
but its a LOT complex for someone like me.

what mean PS1'Classic' ? its the game in pkg format or its something completely different ?

EDIT : I found the check box : netemu
I checked it , saved at the bottom of the page
was asked to restart the console

I mount the game holding L2 and press x (say PS1.emu.self)
I boot the game holding L2 and press x

but its alway the PS1.emu.self that is used
Im wondering why ?

EDIT 2 : OK it seem its because the game is NTSC-J
I tried with another game ( PAL PS1) and the NETEMU booted !!
(see latest 'related' post here : https://www.psx-place.com/threads/h...-ntsc-with-rebug-cfw.36327/page-2#post-325135 )

So if my television would have been a Multi Region one it would have worked
(my television message : " mode not accepted " (50 hz)

Thanks you so much , at least now i will have two PSX-PS1 emulators to choose
alway usefull.
I think i will erase irisman now since i see no use for me to use it anymore
its clunky , its not fluid and now i see webman offer the netemu , yes i have not use for it anymore.

thanks :)

now if someone talented could rewritte the 'Cobra region free patching' it would be nice for all of us that dont have a television that read 50hz/60hz it would be just nice (no headaches) but its probably too complex or ask too much time , i dont know ?

I verified and no mention of sound issue for this particular game we talking about : Gekioh - Shooting King

I will try to create a pkg file of my iso like others said...

PS thanks for the links for all kind of patches , will be truly useful i will add them in my 'favorites' !
thanks you so much

By PS1 Classic yes i mean a PKG version, you can make them in a couple of different ways, there is a link here that has 1 method
https://www.psx-place.com/threads/psx-to-pkg-conversion.9719/#post-44998
using the psx classics toolkit you basically make the .pbp then drop that onto the meta exe and then run a command to sign the edat, there are instructions with the app on how to use it but if you need help just ask.
or you can use pop-fe
https://github.com/sahlberg/pop-fe
which will convert the iso and make the pkg for you (but requires installation which has a step by step process on the site)
either method should work.

My mistake. Hold R2 when mounting the game instead of L2. R2 enables ps1_netemu, while L2 enables ps1_emu. I have already tested this game in ISO format with ps1_netemu and the music works fine.

Sometimes the compatibility reports are a bit innacurate because everybody can edit wiki but in this case @mrjaredbeta is confirming that works perfect so it should be your disc image (ISO or BIN, whatever you used seems to be wrong)

Not sure if you are used to the MD5 checksums, is used as an unique identifyer for a file (in this case a disc image file) there are some webs with databases with the MD5 of all games, if the MD5 of your game matches with what the web is telling then it means is identical to the game dumped by other people from the original CD
Managunz have an option to check the MD5 of your games and contains a couple of databases for PS1 and PS2, in the game settings there is an option to check it... at the end of the check (it could take a few minutes) it tells if your game matches with the database
Otherway, if you dont want to use managunz in the PS3 you can check the MD5 in your PC and compare it with the web databases
Lets say... if the MD5 of your game is identical to the MD5 of the game confirmed by mrjaredbeta... and you boot it with ps1_netemu (in the same way he did it) there is a huge probability to work fine

-----------
Btw, a curiosity about the PS1 emulator selector we realized a couple of weeks ago in wiki (thx to the edits of kozarovv and an annonymous editor)
The ps1_netemu.self revision included in between PS3 firmwares 4.83 up to 4.88 allows to use a command (ID 0x38) that redirects the loading of the game either to... ps1_emu.self... or to... ps1_newemu.self

There are configs for 349 games inside ps1_netemu.self, click in the arrow at top of this table to sort table rows "by command ID" and scroll down to see the games that are using command 0x38, when booting this games it could be very confusing to know which emulator type is running them because are redirected :D
https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/Template:TitleID_settings_hardcoded_in_ps1_netemu.self

The others emulator types: ps1_newemu.self and ps1_emu.self also contains some hundreds of configs... and they uses this same command (with a different ID) to redirect the game load to other emu
So... is very cofusing to know which emu is running the game
