Resistance: Fall of Man - the updates

btw, @Rissy . check this out. I got this on here (psx-place) from @jcorrea, while I was still lurking:

it's a list of most updates, while probably not all. I'm sure some have been lost. anyway, you can download the entire thing if you using wget. wget -x -nc -i updates_v6.txt it will do al the work for you.

Yeah there's lots missing from thar list nowadays.

So the content @Skire has uploaded for Motorstorm is definitely the game Update 3.1 data as I sourced elsewhere the other day. It's good and makes the joy pad rumble etc. As also advised, there is also the Time Attack mode DLC, double track pack DLC, Devils Weekend DLC and the Revenge Weekend DLC. So that's all good. It's not all the DLC for the game, but I think the others are liveries and a few extra vehicles.

However, the RE: FOM data @Skire provided is just the simple DISC data extraction which occurs when you first put the DISC in to load up the game for the first time. This folder is created and the contents populated direct from the DISC on to the HDD. So unfortunately, this isn't the rare and fabled missing RE: FOM online update content. Still no rumbling joypad and no access to DLC content.

Sorry @Skire, thanks for looking though.

So the appeal continues. Can anyone else dig through what they've got for BCES00001?

I will have to look for another directory then because I have the game update installed as my controller does rumble. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure of the files involved, or where exactly they will be located, except that they should be within game/BCES00001 but will most likely be a combination of that folder and something else (files and/or folders within game/BCES00001/USRDIR/

I have copied over that complete folder. Have you tried starting a new game and let the game create a new save file?

Ok so I have now also backed up my save data for RFoM, maybe that contains some additional patch data. Can you re-enable the Google drive upload permissions?

Make sure to place the new folder in: /dev_hdd0/home/00000001/savedata/
Where "00000001" represents your main profile.

There may also be directory with the id of the NTSC version BCUS98107 for the update.

Possibly. Like I said. I'm not sure what files or structure are involved.

Well, what an exciting day!

Someone by the name of "Kendek" has helped me out privately with the RE:FOM (BCES0001) online patch files.
I've now tested these out and can confirm that these work. Rumbling joypad at last!

This update was also necessary for the DLC content to work, which was map packs:
  • resistance fall of man map pack 1
  • braknell axbridge maps
But I think these were online only accessible addons, so without the online servers, these addons are useless now, i thnk. I can't remember now.

I've now updated my google drive folder for people to access, or better yet, make them more publicly available on one of the game update sites...?

Here is a renewed link. This contains both Motorstorm and RE:FOM additional online content downloads for BCES0006 and BCES0001 respectively. Really these days, they only make your joypad rumble, but in the case of Motorstorm, if you can get the DLC cars, liveries etc, then this will also allow you to use these (I think that's right).

Enjoy! I know I will!

Regarding Motorstorm, the game publisher actually released a complete edition later, ID is also BCES0006, which includes patches and DLC

My understanding is that this was only released in Italy (that could be wrong from what I read though)
Anyway, I'm happy with the fact that I can use my original disc version which I bought in 2008, and have it work as it did back then again.
