PS3 Restoring CECHA01

So I got it with a black Wii and 20.00 for both. Expecting it not to work I get home and notice a lot of cosmetic damage, base is split apart like it was dropped, little flap door busted off (sd card reader cover) and the outer ps3 cover was super glued down. Believe it or not it worked. So I tore it apart cleaned meticulously and then applied new paste. It has 38 out 60 gigs left on hdd. Sitting on 4.11 ofw

2 questions-
1. Are these models super quiet? I can hear fan spin up at boot and I think I hear it but not sure. (Too busy today to tear back down, so I ask my friends here)
2. Do they run kind of laggy or sluggish? Or could this be due to heat () or just an old ass hdd?

I have never been fortunate to own this model or any of the fats, except in repairs lol. thanx in advance.

sony and microsoft both opted for a more quiet console than a more reliable one, so stock temp thresholds are usually quite high, before the fan actually kicks in. I have a superslim on stock, and I can barely hear it when it's running, even after intensive gaming. the only time I can hear it is when it's silent. for your console, I'd probably increase the fan speed though, if you intend to put cfw on it. as for being laggy, it could be the hdd. I'd definitely replace it, for not only that reason, but to increase storage capacity, because what you have is quite small these days. when I bought my second cfw ps3, it only had a 50GB hdd inside, so that was the first thing to go in favor of a 1TB hdd. I'd suggest that size specifically to eliminate any problems with higher capacity drives. the ps3 should be good with most, if not any, 1TB hdd 9.5mm in height, but all hdds should be that size or smaller in height these days.

Thank you. I usually get a fan module from circuit surgery from eBay. Always have from day one. Wasn't sure if the lag was from heat. So 2007, that hard drive is almost 20 years old lol.

I dunno. Those older ps3s are like the older 360s, not very reliable in stock form. You did good though, because they're not worth a premium price unless all that stuff has already been done to it.

IMG_6980.jpeg This was my only concern. Never seen that before so I'm going to assume it's part of the ps2/ps1 chip or whatever it's called.
Usually the first thing I do after testing. People abuse And beat the hell out of them then neglect them for years.

is there a recommended crew these days? Last time I played it was REBUG.
