RetroArch CE (Unofficial - Community Edition)

PS3 RetroArch CE (Unofficial - Community Edition) Beta 4

I want to understand
the PSlight version will only include cores & updates that are know/tested to work on the PS3 system in order to get the pakage smaller ?
or its a different beast with other features ?

EDIT : its been awhile that i dont checked for update
the latest is still the beta04 isnt ?

\PSLIGHT VERSION IS IN DEVELOPMENT.
There is not a release for it yet. it. Its not yet on par with RetroArch CE.

NO NEED TO WORRY ABOUT THE PSLIGHT VERSION UNTIL ITS RELEASED.

It will be the same as RetroArch CE when released. Once its on par and the OFFICIAL team adopts it, Then at that point the pslight version would be the goto but we are not there.

Damm I thought I was 100% right about my swap buttons fix, but I wasn't. The label fix still needs to be applied like this:

Fixing the wrong button labels
The default lines below:
input_l2_axis_label = "L2"
input_r2_axis_label = "R2"

They should be:
input_l2_btn_label = "L2"
input_r2_btn_label = "R2"

If not the L2/R2 label won't be recognized and won't appear. They will appear as buttons 12 and 13 in the Retroarch UI.

So, what went wrong then? How I discovered? I tried to bind some keyboard keys in DOSBox and the B/A buttons (CROSS/CIRCLE) from the icon, inside the core input port 1 settings, never corresponded to what I pressed, the icons were corresponding the text, but the game not.
So at first I thought I messed up somewhere or I thought the dosbox was bugged... But then I tried to check a game that I was familiar with to check what was going on, it was Streets of Rage 1 from Sega Mega Drive / Genesis. The Icon and the text label were right but again the B/A buttons from Retroarch (CROSS/CIRCLE) (and B/C in Sega Mega Drive) were swapped.
So I tried to install the old Retroarch 1.76 that I knew it was right, and it was. So I checked the buttons with Retroarch CE and fixed with default Retroarch button mapping. I also had to go back to disable "Menu Swap Ok and Cancel Buttons".

So the problem is the OZONE theme, the icons from the bottom bar / footnote where it says which button is OK and Cancel are swapped. But you can't simply go into the theme folder and swap the images. Because the problem is only in this place, it's calling the wrong images, wrong filenames. It's like B button is calling "Abutton.png" (input_BTN-R.png) for example, instead of "Bbutton.png" (input_BTN-D.png).
If you just swap the images every other place where you setup your buttons will be swapped.

Sorry about my mistake. I hope @Crystal comes back to fix.
I created an issue related to this bug in GitHub ( https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/issues/13212 )
But it seems their team didn't pay attention to my original post and the following replies.
They didn't read and test and then jumped to their conclusion. So to make things simpler for them, they just gave a generic reply and closed the thread.

Tip of the day: Do not waste your time reporting PS3 bugs to libretro team, they don't give a s _ _ _ to us. I wasted hours describing and taking screenshots to report the bug and help them make a better product for nothing. That's it.

At least we have @Crystal and @OsirisX who gives importance to the PS3 port. Thank you guys.

To be fair, right now there is no official PS3 port for them to work on. Although, when there was, there was a sense of "who-cares-about-the-PS3" that apparently stills prevails.

What about the Genesis Plus GX Wide core? It seems to be in the list of cores. However, it is not present in the retroarch itself. If there is any problem with that, then no problem. I'm just used to using the wide version. I downloaded the retroarch via github. (Sorry for English, used Google Translate)

That core is included in RetroArch CE

I think (correct me if iam wrong). crystal compile with sdk ce version so we can report to him the problem...

I'm wondering if the core will be "NEC - Neko Project II Kai"?
Just interesting, it's just that when I searched that github, it wasn't there. If there are any problems with it, then it's okay.

Something I thought would be ok to report:

The new romhack Super Metroid - subversion works on RA 1.0.0.2 default snes9x core (based on snes9x 1.52.4 I think). But it just gives a black screen when running on Retroarch CE (tested on snes9x current and snes9x 2010).

Works okay for me...

I uninstalled RA CE to install the Beta4 as I think my version was Beta3. But when I hit to install, my PS3 always returns the error 80029564.

No idea what's wrong, I downloaded two times from github release link, I'm certain the download is correct.

Now that's over for me. No idea what's wrong.

EDIT: Reinstalled BETA3 and it worked as before. Only BETA4 is giving that error. Should I install over beta3? At first I uninstalled beta3 and tried install beta4. Didn't work.

Hey, RA was updated today to 1.11.0 version!

Only one line concerning PS3:
  • NETWORK/NETPLAY/PS3: Launch compatibility patch

Can we get a new pkg for CE?

I'd like to skip beta4 as my PS3 doesn't accept it and give me error 80029564.

EDIT: Managed to install BETA4 using aldostools' pkg from march with all cores. And yet, Super Metroid Subversion 1.2 just gives me black screen.

Try to uninstall and after this check if retroarch folder still exists. If yes, delete it ant try to install b4.
