Hello, I've recently bought a SCPH-9002 PS1 and opened it up to clean it. I've noticed that a modchip had been installed but I can't figure out what layout it is. 6th pin is not soldered to anything (I guess it was as there is solder on the end of the red wire) and I don't know if I should solder it or not. Is anyone able to identify what layout/version of modchip it is?

it could be anything, but i guess mm3 as it has all 8 leg soldered. but without reading the chip and comparing its only guesing. The chip is a standart PIC microprocesor. with proper programmer you can write it yourself. But i can be wrong here this 12c508a are single write only.

Actually 7 pins are wired (except 3rd pin). It looks like Stealth 2.8a modchip for PU-23 board but 2nd and 7th pins were reversed, at least according to the diagram I've found after googling "Stealth 2.8a PU-23". I reversed it back so that it was compliant with the diagram, soldered in the 6th pin as it wasn't connected to anything and it didn't work. The original game (very scratched) goes into CD player, I can play the whole soundtrack smoothly. The burned game (ImgBurn, 10x speed, CD-R) isn't detected at all.
