SNESticle

PS2 SNESticle LBA Fixed

The problem is that the PS2 Logo is an important part of any proper PS2 ISO.
It will appear if you brew the ISO using cdgenPS2.

I'm impressed with the performance. It seems pretty decent, definitely seems better than the old SNESStation that I think was a port of SNES9X. Certainly not perfect but seems usable. Judging by the performance in certain titles I don't think there is much room for emulating SuperFX or SA-1. Still quite a nice addition to what you can do with your PS2.

Update: I only tried once but has anyone else noticed it seems like it can't load files from DVD-ROM? It does load fine from a CD-ROM. I was trying it out on a DVD-R to see if ESR would be able to run it but it failed.

Edit to avoid double posting:
So i was browsing the source code to SNESticle and no one seems to have mentioned this but the emulator also supports NES games. I didn't extensively test to see what mappers but it loaded Mega Man when I tried a ISO in PCSX2. So that's pretty cool. I'll have to try it out on a real console and see if there is audio support as I don't get any audio in PCSX2 with SNESticle.

It also looks like there may be Famicom Disk System support.

Update: The NES support has audio. It supports atleast mappers 0, 2, 4, and 5. Does not support mapper 69. It also might not support SRAM saves. I tried Legend of Zelda and it did not save the SRAM like it does with SNES titles.

Same here,CD works great but DVD it boots normal but snesticle cannot find any files on DVD so cannot boot any ROM.

I tried this with Super Mario World and it works great. Seems to have minor issues with sound interpolation but not really an issue for me.

I have no interest in boxing but this is a great asset for the PS2.
Also, if this was on the GC then how is it here on the PS2 and very optimized at that?

@TnA

I read the whole post but must have missed that part (until now). Thank you.

And to the others speaking of the PS2 Logo, there is a free tool called Disc Patcher that can "fix" this issue.

Do you mean the analog stick?

I haven't checked in awhile but if the full buildable source for the PS2 version gets uploaded it should be trivial to allow you to use the analog stick. From what I remember the source was missing NES related files. So to compile a new version might require cutting out the NES support which would be sad.

?? The source is already available (incomplete? IDK), but (AFAIK) it is built against the Sony-SDK&Toolchain, hence I am actually not sure about the legality of sharing a binary.

I suggest linking to the official GitHub-page instead!

But yes, it is probably rather trivial to add that support.

Correct, if you read the source you will see references to files not included which are related to the NES emulation component. If I recall there are object files in one folder where build related files were included so you may be able to build a new executable with those, but the original source files aren't all there.

Very unlikely. The NES emulator may be NESticle in name in the PS2 source but it's not the exact same emulator code from a long time ago. It would be up to the author to add the missing files to the github.

As I said before it might be possible to still make some changes since there are what I believe are object files included from a build which could be linked even though the original source files are missing. But that does mean changing anything with the NES functionality would be difficult.

Hi, interesting project, but I have big problem with zip ROMS. I get error in emulator menu, though I use WinRar or 7-Zip. Please help.

It should work as long as you put only 1 file in the ZIP file. Also double check that the ROM works when not zipped incase you have a bad ROM.

Alternatively you could just leave your ROMs unzipped if you aren't packing an entire CD full of ROMs. If you curate a collection of games this should work. The problem is when you try to dump an entire romset on the disc. You'd be wasting a ton of space on games you'll never play.
