PS3 [Solved installing CFW] PS3 w/ HEN Won't Load PS2 Discs

So my recently refurbished CECH A00 PS3 is having trouble loading PS2 games from disc. With it being a Japanese console my PAL games are region locked, so I have installed HEN to combat this.
It no longer pops up with the region lock message, however, after attempting to load the game it returns to the XMB and gives me the error code 80028f17.
I'm not after any additional functionality, I just want my console to be able to play PS3 & PS2 games from disc without the region lock issue. At present PS3 games are running fine from disc, seems to be exclusively a PS2 disc issue.
Any help would be appreciated.

Why are you using HEN instead of CFW?.

Do you have hardware issues?.

Why are you using hen on CECHA console? hen can not load ps2 disc

HEN does nothing regarding region locks of physical discs. You will need to install CFW then you can change the console region through the debug menu.

Thanks guys, installed CFW and changed the region through the debug menu and have solved the issue.
