PS3 Spyro Year of The Dragon | PS3 HEN

Good evening everyone!
For months, I have been trying to play Spyro Year of The Dragon on my PS3 Super Slim with the HEN modification installed.
I have tried several ISO & BIN files (with webMan) found online, but none of them work. Or rather: once I try to enter Sheila's world "Icy Peak," the game freezes and stays on a black screen.
I have also tried applying various patches found online to the ISO/BIN files, but even those did not work from that level of the game onward.
I also tried the ISO/BIN already with the patch applied by the "Paradox" group, but this one also freezes at the level mentioned above.
And finally, I also tried converting the various ISO/BIN files (both with and without applying the patches) into PKG format. But this attempt did not work either.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

you're unlikely to get a response, since you admitted to pirating the game. it's against the rules, not that I would've been able to help anyway. I think there's a remaster of that game on the switch/ps4. I'm pretty sure I own it, but I have so many unplayed games. I would play it there, but that's just my opinion.
 
You are right, I didn't specify that I also tried to do it on my physical copy. Sorry, I was in a hurry and had to get back to work. That's all

is that a ps2 game? I looked up the switch/ps4 version, and it's part of the trilogy. I'm pretty sure I own it on the switch, because it came out before I had a ps5. I'd probably own it there if I had had the system at the time. the switch has become something for exclusives, like my series x, which is for bc and exclusives. I mostly game on the ps5, but I've been playing dkc returns hd lately. it's my favorite game of all time, and I really loved the new stages in world 9. :D

I see. I'm mostly an rpg gamer, so I probably didn't own the game on the ps1. I'm pretty sure I got it on the switch though. I'm trying to get these collections of games, ones I didn't play before, and I do like platformer-type games as well.

For the Switch and PS4, there is the remastered trilogy of Spyro. I'm not interested in that version; I'm interested in the PS1 version, so I can play it on PS3 HEN. One thing I didn't specify is that the CD reader on my console doesn't work either: that's why I'm looking for a way to play the old Spyro on my PS3.

Try Pop-fe, someone previously tested this game and got it working using that, good luck,

IF for some reason you can't use pop-fe or want to run as a iso instad of a pkg then i would recommend trying the newer patch for libcrypt by @alexfree

OK good luck, hopefully 1 of the 2 methods should work, Alexfree did a lot of work on sorting libcrypt because some of the existing patches just didn't work right, and pop-fe has a lot of ways of either ppf patching or using magic word to get around libcrypt

I hope at least one of the two methods works. Three years ago, I managed to get the game working correctly (using a patch found on the "ConsoleCopyWorld" website, now no patches are downloadable from this site) on my PSP. A few evenings ago, I tried to convert the EBOOT created for PSP into ISO/BIN for PS3. But even in this case, the game always froze at the mentioned level.

Hi! I tried both programs that you sent me, but unfortunately, the problem still persists.

hm strange, well first always check your dump against the redump database to make sure it is perfect because a small fault could cause the problem, If its still a problem the only other thing i can sugest is maybe buy it on PSN, i know you already own the game but the official PKG would probably work best. And if Pop-fe isnt working maybe @Ronnie Sahlberg might have an idea or 2.

I saw that there is an English version on PSN, and I was looking for it in Italian. I hope the person you mentioned can help me in some way.

Game is playable for sure because I bought it on PSS and fully finished. So problem with that game and user image is on Cobra side or LibCrypt improperly patched (and in case of mimic digital distribution type: on PSAR patch creation).

Did you compare your dump against redump ?
Well i think the European version is multilanguage isn't it ? so if a PAL version exists on PSN it might be mutlilanguage (unless they distribute the NTSC version in PAL regions, they do that sometimes), it is weird that none of the patches have worked which made me think it might be a bad dump, sadly i dont have that ps1 game :( so i have no way of testing, IF you still cant run it then maybe look at changing the internal emulator to see if one of the others boots it better (if you use irisman you can change the emulator, i think webman can do it too but im not sure how)

So, on the PSN store I only found the English version, but I am interested in the European/PAL version. Actually, I hadn't thought about installing irisman and trying to run Spyro (with the patch applied) to see if it works.

well give it a try, and try the different options (press triangle i think to change the emulator used) and see if any give a better result,
And it sucks if they didnt release the European version in europe :\
