PS2 Standalone GSM doesn't work with OPL

So I've been trying to get my OPL games to a higher resolution for the past couple days, and I tried out the standalone GSM since the one built into OPL squishes the games on my HD TV. Turns out it doesn't seem to work with OPL, as seen in the picture; when I turn on any HDTV resolution on GSM and I try to run OPL, I get this black screen with some pixels in the upper left.

I just wanted to see what it would look like in OPL, since disc games seem to run in fullscreen just fine. Is the standalone GSM just not compatible with the newer versions of OPL?

My PS2 is SCPH-70003 model, if that helps any.

Because gsm is built into modern OPL.

I ran into this a while back too. The only way to use it with OPL is to revert to an old version of it before gsm was implemented.

I use the cheap but excellent PS2 to HDMI and get the same issue of it blank screening. If OPL could be compiled without gsm we most likely could use standalone gsm with it.

But there are builds without GSM (look into various.7z archive) and You can also disable GSM (disabled by default) in game options.

Isn't those HDMI cables taking input from composite instead component?

I tried googling those builds without GSM as well as various.7z archive but didn't really find anything. Do you have any further instructions on where to find them?

Best thing would be to take the RGB signal but I don't know if it exist such adapter. All the ones I saw clearly use the composite signal (picture quality is worse than using the component).

However it is easy to verify. If changing Ps2 video output option doesn't make any difference it is taking input from composite.

I tried changing the video output on PS2, and the HDMI adapter I have doesn't support RGB. I guess that means it's not taking input from composite?

Does your adapter specs mention support for YUV/YPBPR? That's the other component video format output from PS2.

If you get black screen when selecting RGB then yes, it should be taking the component signal as a base.

Fortunately not. It requires the component setting to be YCbCr. I can use 480p to to 1080i (and 1080p with gsm)
Not only is it the cheapest but also the best looking of these three. I watched this video before deciding which to buy.
