PS2 Super Mario 64 for PS2

The only compression tool that I've got it work with, as in actually booting and being playable is NRLPack.
It works uncompressed fine, but you get the point. Smaller and boots faster.

If anyone can help, we can meet at 64th Base Street . All i want is the plumber not to stutter . If you come with Santa's elf, i'll know who you are.

I finally found out why the sound was laggy
That is interesting. I have PAL PS2's and everything else runs fine as 60Hz NTSC full screen etc. I have the elf and ISO versions as well as the Portuguese (so Brazilian) language version and they are all choppy. I had assumed it was just how the PS2 port was. Interestingly, the Brazil version has better transparency effect at some points in the game. I connect via S-Video to a Plasma TV.

SOLVED.
I have found an August 2023 version that runs perfectly on my un-modded UK PS2 as an elf using MCBoot. It's apparently fixed at 480i 30 FPS which suits my S-Video connection. Full screen. Full speed. No choppiness. It's a PAL UK HD TV but supports multi-standards as most do.

Even though it's easy to find, I'd remove that link if I were you. It's against the rules. I don't know if the latest toolchain will build sm64, but you do have the option of docker, which will make it really easy to build.

I was able to get 60fps working, and boots up much quicker now:

What exactly did you changed in the source?

I'm not sure exactly. it's one of my older builds, since I don't delete anything in linux, only windows. I was looking for one with the 60fps patch from the enhancements folder, since the newer version or maybe it's a different fork, has issues with the 60fps patch. this build is slightly smaller than the worse one, but it's better with 60fps, though it doesn't maintain 60fps (not sure on hardware, since I don't own a ps2), so I just noted it from the emulator. it booted up almost instantly. here's my build folder:

I may have done something to it as I used to be on two sm64 discord servers, and we were helping each other out, but I really don't remember.

okay, puppycam is part of this 60fps version. I'm not sure how I did it, because when I tried redoing it, it reverted to 30fps. it stayed at or around 60fps at all times with this one, and booted up wicked fast. by puppy cam, I meant rotating 360 degrees for those who didn't know. remember, sm64 only rotates so far, so the camera sucks normally. haha

nm, it's not puppycam. I guess I didn't quite know what puppycam was. the camera doesn't spin around fluidly, but you can rotate it 360 degrees. I think it was part of the BETTERCAMERA=1 command, which doesn't seem to be puppycam. puppycam, I think, is one of the "enhancements," which doesn't seem to be available for ps2 afaik. you also can't just use a patch from another version of the port either or it will error when you try to apply it. that even goes for its various forks.
