PS3HEN [Support Thread] PS3HEN Bugs, Problems, and Other Issues

esc0rtd3w

Developer
This thread will serve as a place to consolidate all of the current issues users are experiencing with PS3HEN. This will only cover released versions, not BETA, TEST, and RC versions.

It is generally best to test these cases on a clean install of both HFW and HEN.

I will try keeping this post updated with problems and solutions, based on user feedback and personal testing.

Current Issues

3.2.1 (4.82 - 4.90 Firmware)

.Cross Battle Adapter: See https://www.psx-place.com/threads/s...ms-and-other-issues.37327/page-17#post-360848

.
3.2.0 (4.90 Firmware)

.For those having freezing issues, and have old plugins, you can use the R2 button while hen is enabling to bypass plugins, you can also place a blank boot_plugins.txt on USB drive. This will allow you to remove any plugins that are causing crashing, like outdated webmanmod.

via @aldostools
It is highly recommended to update to webMAN MOD 1.47.44 BEFORE upgrade to PS3HEN 3.2.0

Cross Battle Adapter: See https://www.psx-place.com/threads/s...ms-and-other-issues.37327/page-17#post-360848

.After HEN enables from web (initial install), if you have slow internet and can get into another xmb menu (Network Settings) and push circle to cancel, the ui will not be correct and you get stuck in menu if you try to go back into the same menu again, forcing a reboot to fix. If you go into a different menu, the xmb will still function but the overlay will still be on top.

Trophy list is all kinds of messed up, It's very hard to read anything in there and that's the main issue that I'm seeing other than the squares in the bottom right of XMB now if there is anything else I might be missing something.

Clean installation of 4.89.1 official HFW
3.1.0 official HEN

After reading some reports it seems the best solution is going to be to remove the explore_plugin.sprx from in the HEN 4.89 installer
But try to remove it in the other HEN versions too @esc0rtd3w if the HEH 4.89 installer doesnt needs it means the others doesnt needs it either

im not touching 4.88 and lower lol. If it aint broke, dont fix it :D

But for 4.89, yes i will try that and do a bit of testing

I replaced explore_plugin.sprx with OFW 4.89. Trophy menu is fixed. Package Manager looks normal, but stutters slightly when selecting sub-menus. This is an annoying side effect, but can probably be patched to function normal, with some RE. Maybe the RCO plays a part in the stuttering. Tested on 4201A eMMC

This hash seems to be correct (reported from HEN in debug mode) for 4.89 OFW explore_plugin.sprx (0xacf4af2b000ec000), which means we should have been using 0xc50d0000000e0000 for the DEX module??,but 4.89 is the only firmware that has had issues, is why nobody ever brought it up before??

I was having some major hashcalc frustration over the past week. Ive tried multiple hashcalc builds and HEN hashes dont match my hashcalc output If anyone else could verify this hash or these?

the hashcalc gave me this for 4.89 ofw
0xc50d0000000ec000

but HEN calculates it at 0xacf4af2b000ec000

Hi Team, thanks for HEN 3.1.0 :)

I went from OFW 4.89 to HFW 4.89.1 and tried the auto and manual installers via ps3xploit, no joy. I ran the "Install HEN" that was included in the HFW, and that seems to have worked for installing HEN. All good :).

Just wanted to report a possible bug where after hitting Enable HEN after a reboot, some activities like installing a package (webMAN MOD) will fail on the first attempts. A second attempt normally always works.

My device is a CECH2502A :)

Hmm, there was definitely an icon like that, because I clicked it. And when I did (the second time), it downloaded and installed HEN. I wish I had of taken a photo so I could show you :) This was after attempting the Auto installer and manual installer a few times. The only other thing I did was put the .pkg on the root of my USB.

The HFW I installed was the one released @ https://www.psx-place.com/threads/hfw-4-89-1-hybrid-firmware-official-release.37319/ downloaded via the Mega link. The icon was not there obviously on OFW 4.89. I've not done anything since OFW 4.89 was installed other than what I said above. Unless I've forgotten that I flashed a different firmware :')

It has exactly the same "download" icon that the "Update PS3HEN" option in the firmware tools menu has.

I made a video for you.
Clean install of 4.89.1 official HFW -> 3.1.0 official HEN -> [square bug here] -> 4.89 sprx fix -> [no square bug here].
Also I can confirm working PKG installation feature after using the 4.89 sprx fix.

where I download those pkg???? pls

Not sure if it's even a bug but bottom right corner while scrolling games there's a faded white square in corner it don't cause any issues but thought I'd mention it

It looks like you're using hashcalc from Cobra Team, instead of hash calc from PS3HEN project.

hashcalc from Cobra Team returns 0xc50d0000000ec000 for first section.

That hashcalc uses a loop of 32 bytes (0x8 x 32bits). Swapping elf_buf[0xb0 to 0xb8 -1]

The hashcalc in PS3HEN uses 0x400 (0x100 x 32bits)..Swapping elf_buf[0 to 0x100 -1]

This is the hash calculation in modulespatch.c of Cobra 8.3 (as you can see the loop is different (8 not 0x100)

Should I make a pull request about the automatic logo swap and the package manager to only show after hen activation Or is it not necessary?
you can, yeah. How are you doing it? Using map_path, or that other slot function? What is the better way that should be done, you referred to? Most of the PR sit for a while until we can get some testers for stuff. You can also send PM of code if you want and i can test it
