after updating the list of games, the app_home folder in the menu does not change, although if you look in the file manager in app_home there is eboot.bin from reloadxmb. In that case, I recommend to hard-code the seg_gamedebug section into category_game.xml
Would you please try testing without anything plugged into USB ports, when this happens again?
The only thing i can think of is there is something with the pad detection causing issues. This option can also be removed as a test. If you wanted to try it, I can upload a custom pkg to try, if you want to test it.
Lastly, if you want to try the debug version and post a socat log, that may also help, if hen is in fact loading at all. You can switch into debug mode using the HFW tools option, under Development.
Actually, are you seeing the HEN welcome message or it never gets that far?
If it doesn't even get to that part, maybe its happening before payload gets launched, and would be some WebKit issue.
We did add a flag to check hen installing, that also checks for webman in 3.2.1, but that only applies when installing from HTML.
If you are doing the auto update from xmb, this flag is not set. I was thinking of adding an xmb flag to also check webman if installing from auto update, but this wasn't added yet.
Weird that it was just hanging though and not loading hen. How did you load hen to disable webman? Using HTML installer?
That version 1.47.44 is the version that fixed freezing issues on 4.90.
idk why you are having a difficult time. Yes you can use a router or a direct lan connection in debug mode and you will see output. If console is freezing without hen enabled, maybe you have a hard drive problem? You can switch back to release mode at any time.Ok now is ridiculous, i just restarted the console after a freeze without HEN been enabled, and now it freezed again, in less than 10 mins, wtf?
Meh, i'll keep trying, but how do i dump the log txt (xD)? I have socat ready and the console im debug.idk why you are having a difficult time. if you run that batch file, and press enter, it will logMeh, i'll keep trying, but how do i dump the log txt (xD)? I have socat ready and the console im debug.
this means that HEN didn't loadIt never gets as far as the welcome message, it just hangs on the screen with the grey circle HEN logo in the canter and the dial at the top right hand of the screen.
Every time I would try to enable HEN, it just hangs on the enabling screen. The clock/dial in the top right hand side of the screen keeps spinning as if something is happing but it just keeps hanging and HEN never gets enabled. This is different to the freezing issue cause by older versions of Webman etc. Like I said before this was a completely clean install with the latest of everything. No matter how many times I rebooted the system and tried to enable HEN the same problem occurred and HEN just hanging on the enabling screen with the clock/dial in the top right hand side of the screen spinning continuously.
But after about a week of using the system with no problem now the problem has reoccurred AGAIN. HEN just hangs on the enabling screen with the clock/dial in the top right hand side of the screen spinning continuously.

I have looked everywhere for a solution to this particular problem and I cant find one. I can only find solutions to the freezing issue cause by older versions of Webman etc. but this Is not my problem. I hope I can find a solution as I don't want to have to uninstall everything, re-format, re-install everything every week or so every time this problem occurs.
there seems to be some issues with some non-sony controllers and perhaps some usb devices on 3.2.0+. is it possible that you are plugging in a controller to charge, or some usb device, and it is still plugged in on next boot?
The best solution in this situation would be to enable an option that disables hotkey polling by default.Goodnight!
The same has happened to me (I have commented in the Thread about it)

I´ve edited the category_game.xml in /dev_flash/.. and inserted the 2 blocks but unfortunately it didn´t work.In that case, I recommend to hard-code the seg_gamedebug section into category_game.xml

Yes I know. I've edited it in dev_rewrite.dev_rewrite need. dev_flash read only
Ok, my laptop charger died, so i can't dump the file now, i'll do as soon as i canif you run that batch file, and press enter, it will log
you only need this line
socat -lu stdout udp-recv:18194,reuseaddr | tee socat.log

thanks for telling us! we never know what bug fixes "those guys" come up with because they got banned from here.Such options are in an unofficial HEN
It never gets as far as the welcome message, it just hangs on the screen with the grey circle HEN logo in the canter and the dial at the top right hand of the screen.
I got a bit impatient while waiting and tried uninstalling HFW/HEN and doing a quick format/system restore/reinstall everything on my second HDD. It didnt work though, HEN wouldnt enable properly, it would act like it enabling and then throw me back to the XMB but without the welcome to HEN message and with no package manager visible. I remembered last time i fixed the issue i had to do a "full" format/system restore... so im trying that and the full format is still going after 24 hours.
I will see if i fixing the second HDD makes the first HDD work again and if not i will try your recommendations with nothing plugged into the USB ports. If the problem isnt fixed i dont think id be able to try the custom pkg because it never gets as far as loading the package manager (unless there is some other way to do it).
Ill report back after ive fully formatted and reinstalled everything on the second HDD.
check the md5 of your 4.90 hfw pup. it should be 5eaef6cf25b6c319228de713b270e464. if it is not, then you are using unofficial hfw and there may be some missing/incorrect files on your system (because of how the different hfw's are made). So after a uninstalling HFW and running full format/restore then reinstalling HFW many times heres what happens when I install HEN again. The autoinstaller in Ps3xploit.me doesn't work no matter how many times I tried it. On any given attempt sequence (usually the second time I run it), it will say the initiallization was sucessful and installing HEN… but it takes me back to the XMB and the HEN download doesn't start as it should. I got around this by using the "alternate method".
Next when the PS3 starts the enable HEN logo does show up under games (also the PS3Xploit Home option appears above remote play in the network section). When I try to enable HEN it takes me to the screen with the grey logo and the dial in the top right of screen. I no longer have the "endless spinning" issue I described in my earlier posts. Instead, shortly thereafter, it takes me back to the XMB without displaying the welcome to HEN message and in the XMB the package manager does not appear. So basically it LOOKS like nothing has happened and HEN isnt enabled. I tried many many times unistalling HFW/formatting HDD/re-installing HFW and HEN but the result is always the same as described above.
Through much experimentation I discovered that if I do my enable HEN (which appears to have done nothing) and THEN go to PS3Xploit Home and run the Installer/enabler option, the initialization sequence will run through and say it has failed. But upon closing the browser and going back to XMB now I can see the package manager and Hybrid Firmware Tools above remote play and PS3Xploit Home in the network section. Note: I tried just going straight to PS3Xploit Home after the PS3 starts and running the Installer/enabler option, but this wont work, I need to do the enable HEN that appears to have done nothing first.
Given that I now had the package manager i tried installing Webman MOD. The logo appears and I select the L1 + X option to install the full version. It will say its installing the full version and take me back to the XMB after but no Webman folder will appear. This is still the case even after reboots and running through the whole enable HEN which appears to have done nothing/PS3Xploit Home Installer/enabler process. To be clear I still get no welcome to HEN message OR Webman message which should be appearing at this stage. So I cant get Webman working even though I did find a way to get the package manager and HFWtools working with the aforementioned sequence.
Next, with the package manager appearing to be working, I tried installing MULTIMAN and some pkg games. To my surprise MULTIMAN and the games do work. Before running them I did have to do the whole enable HEN which appears to have done nothing/PS3Xploit Home and Installer/enabler process. Then with more more experimentation I discovered that pkg games and MULTIMAN will work after just running the standard enable HEN option from the XMB, even though it takes me back to the XMB without displaying the welcome to HEN message and in the XMB the package manager does not appear. So even though the standard enabler LOOKS like its done nothing it obviously has done SOMETHING. To get the package manger and HFWtools, like before, I had been having to run the PS3Xploit Home Installer/enabler. Then I noticed that if I just run the standard enabler which appears to do nothing and then run MUTIMAN… it has the effect of bringing back the package manager and Hybrid Firmware Tools. In other words running MULTIMAN apparently has the same effect as running the PS3Xploit Home Installer/enabler in terms of bringing back the package manager and HFWtools.
Although not ideal, at least now I can play games from my external HDD (most of my games are on there) which after all my headaches and frustration over the past weeks is definitely a big improvement. I would much prefer to get things working properly and prefer Webman MOD to mount my external HDD games. Im also worried weather this current scenario will remain stable as obviously something isnt quite right somewhere in the system.
Thank you for taking the time to read and to everyone who has given suggestions. Hopefully this information is useful to the developers although it seems my particular set of problems isnt all that common at least from what I can tell by searching online so im not sure it would be worth their time to try to figure it out. I will watch with interest for any further suggestions or anyone experiencing the same issues.

long shot but worth checking.
