Does anyone know the points i could bridge to power on a scph30001 ps2? As well as if mod chipping it would be worth it?

Not sure which models I have currently. If I have time on the weekend I'll check.

The beauty of the PS2 is that most parts are interchangeable. Just get the power button from another and try it.

I'm assuming you want to bridge the power because your ribbon is damaged. Here's a suggested method.

Remove the top. Use your meter with continuity testing to find whichever pin is ground. Then move the other lead across the remaining pins to short it into turning on.

If it is actually the power button that's your problem then maybe I can test with one of mine over the weekend and advise. Unless someone else has the time or the schematics and can assist. Will see.

As you said it is because my ribbon cable is broken. I also dont have a multimeter otherwise i would have found it myself

Alright. If I get a chance this weekend I'll check for it and advise. Unless someone comes on beforehand.

*EDIT*
Got it done with some bonus pics. What you need is the last one (#5).

Actually found the exact model I think.

Turned out to be one I had chipped some time ago.

This is where the power connector is.

For reference, the middle pin is ground.

But funny enough - it's pins 2 & 3 from the right (in the picture) that are for the power button. You can also see the spots on the resistors/diodes that could be used if you rather solder on top of them.

Hopefully that helps with what you need.

No problem - you're most welcome. That's what we're here for - to help each other out. Months late, but hopefully it'll get what you need to have your system up and running. Just let me/us know if there's anything else you need.
