PS2 [Testers Needed] MX4SIO - WIP SD Compatibility Thread

is there a github on the OPL BDM new release?

To clarify the OPL builds I provide are equal to the master branch of OPL, there are no code changes to OPL itself. All of the features intrinsic to the latest OPL are present. The difference lies in that these builds are built using a newer, experimental fork of the MX4SIO driver from the ps2sdk. The code for that has yet to be merged and can be found on my GitHub fork: https://github.com/qnox32/ps2sdk/tree/perf_improvements

The latest releases can be found in my original post under the "Experimental OPL Builds" tab. It's updated every time I make a new build.

What games did you try? (please specify region too)
Did they work in older builds?
And are they known to have compatibility issues with OPL?

What games did you try?
God of War (USA)
DB Tenkaichi Budokai 3 (edited version - latest character)

Did they work in older builds? - I didn't tried yet the previous build, since this is the 1st time I tried because I have a problem before on sandisk SD card ( didn't detect by OPL).

And are they known to have compatibility issues with OPL? - its working on internal HDD and tru flash driver fat32 format

Using OPL BDM 4.7:

SanDisk 256GB EXFAT: works, no change from 4.5
Samsung 4GB FAT32: works, no change from 4.5
Sony 16GB FAT32: doesn't work, no change from 4.5
Kingston 128GB microSD EXFAT: works, no change from 4.5
SanDisk 200GB microSD EXFAT: works, no change from 4.5

the SD card log from the SD card debugger for the Sony card is attached.

Should have also asked, were you using OPL BDM 4.7 or OPL BDM 4.7 hotfix? If you didn't use the hotfix version, could you please give that a try? The non-hotfix version was accidentally built with a bunch of extra debugging stuff left in that introduced a lot of regressions.

Using OPL BDM 4.7:

SanDisk 256GB EXFAT: works, no change from 4.5
Samsung 4GB FAT32: works, no change from 4.5
Sony 16GB FAT32: doesn't work, no change from 4.5

Damn, that Sony card is really stubborn. Thanks for trying though

anyway what is your recommended allocation size on exfat format?
does it matter or not?

Update:
i used BDM 4.7 & 4.7 hotfix - still OPL detects sandisk extreme 128GB microSD but when i try to run the games it gives me a black screen.
Exfat format with 128KB file allocation

Games:
God of War (USA)
Burnout 3 (USA)
GTA San Andreas (USA)

Those games should at least boot according to the compatibility list. Are you sure these ISO's work?

Did you by chance leave the USB plugged in when trying to use MX4SIO? IIRC that can cause issues

Thanks for the feedback. I'll see if I can reproduce these issues on my end and report back.

In the meantime I published a new build which fixes a minor bug with the card recovery process: https://www.dropbox.com/s/sm1arxht45g15vo/OPL_BDM_4.7.1.ELF?dl=0
I don't have good reason to believe this will help with your issues, but if you have the time could you give it a try?

anyway, I tried fat32 format with 16K & 32K file allocations,
OPL detects the game but when im trying to run it gives me black screen.
maybe something to do with my micro SD card (sandisk 128GB)
im using MX4SIO (SD card) variant and im using a adaptor for my micro sd.

i'll give a feedback later on your new build.
