Total Noob seeking help

So I'm trying to get this PS3 to run SNES games for my mother. She also needed a Blu-Ray player and she lost a collection of games she had.

I have tried to following some instruction to do the above but I've had zero success. I don't mean to bother people and typically I'm usually able to figure things out but I think I really need help for this.

Can someone connect with me and walk me through what I need? I can chat on discord or make a phone call even but what I do need is just some guidance and help. I would greatly appreciate anyone who takes their time helping me.

I think the serial number ended in CECH-L01
It's a FAT model. It looks like I should be able to get this particular model to function properly.

I've actually tried getting cfw on the machine. It has a firmware of 4.81, I'm making sure it cannot update from that version. I should add that when trying to change the firmware, it gets to 77% and then fails with a data corrupted error.

Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance
 
Would you be able to chat with me a bit Psykosis and help me through this? I'm just having difficulties understanding this process and a little guidance would be really helpful.

Well I updated to 4.82 as was suggested but it's the ps3exploit part.
Not sure what I'm looking for. Can anyone direct me to the file I need or what I need to do?

If cfw is what you want, then format a usb stick to fat32 (I believe) the create a folder called PS3 inside that folder create another one called UPDATE, then place the PS3UPDAT.pup in the updates folder. Power down device then insert usb to the most right usb and hold power button until 2 beeps then let go. (Recovery/safe mode) then select update console from usb device. That should work. Make sure firmware and cfw match like 4.82 off and 4.82 cfw.

If by mistake you update to 4.83 OFW you are pretty much screwed. ONLY OFW 4.82.

Also make a flash dump and validate it, before flashing. And follow all instructions like "install OFW 4.82 twice" ; just do each step as the guide says.

I really appreciate the help but OMFG my head is going to explode. I'll try and figure it out but if someone could just help guide me a bit I'd be grateful. This is something I'm trying to do for my mom and I'm surprised there isn't a simpler step by step.
 
Man I am so Salty and upset. I went out to get a second hand ps3. super slim. The FW was on v4.76 and I went and updated to the latest becuase HAN wanted you to create an account on psn to use the tools and I was non the wiser about the update. No one to blame but myself. I just bought it to play ps1 and ps3 games from the drive.,.. Sigh

This is why reading up on exploits before you commit to them is crucial, I researched all the exploits possible and what my options were for hours and hours before I ever even decided to exploit my PS3, one of the first things I read was to not update past 4.81 OFW, then I read a later post telling me that updating to 4.82 OFW is fine but not to go to 4.83 OFW.
