There's no such thing as microsoldering if you just drown the shit in flux
Anyway, I insist, the needle method requires a steady hand, you lift the needle off the board and best case scenario you end up with a bad dump, worst case scenario you end up with a fried nor, board or e3. I personally find it best to just solder and then remove the cable. The edge of the board + alligator clip thing is what I used to avoid doing a second solder point but I've never fucked a pad/via even though I use a 40w unregulable soldering iron. Used the solder mask removal technique to fix several other things though such as 360 controllers, these things' analog sticks are WELDED to the board and half the time you remove one there's a 50% chance you take a pad or 2 with it
