Hello,

I destroyed 2 CHECA01s trying to delid them.
I'm not going to try and delid any more after this....

I would like my PS3s repaired if possible.
I have contacted 2 people about it: studiohalabi and a specialized PS3 repair service in my country (Australia).
I described how the consoles were damaged and both of them refuse to even touch the consoles.
Both said:
"You have either pulled pads from the board under the BGA's and or damaged their substrate."

Is there anyone in the world who can do repairs of this nature on PS3s?
Someone reasonably priced?
(Not just reballing, I believe I also damaged a tokin capacitor.)
Or.
Is there anywhere I can buy a decent condition (not purple/blue die) and delidded CHECA01 for a replacement?
I have looked online but I can't find anything suitable.

I contacted Better Way Electronics but it doesn't look like he is able to do a BGA reflow judging from his website.

I notice that some of the other repair people I contacted consider it a "grave sin" to try and delid yourself.

I suspect my big mistake was using a screwdriver as a lever to remove the IHS after I cut into most of the glue using a painter's knife.
I suspect this put enough pressure on the CPU/GPU substrate to break something.

Ace Console Repair pointed me to the proper fix for my ylod. I don't know much about them, but if I were in Australia, I would definitely contact them.

I would try to avoid buying one with the warranty seal removed unless you can know the whole history, but then you would be in the same boat.

I have contacted Ace Console Repair and he said he doesn't do the repair I needed.

Yes, good advice about buying one with the warranty seal attached.

The downside with the warranty seal is that if it's there, you know it's never had a good cleaning or new thermal paste, and if it's not there, it could be well maintained, or terribly abused. I've gotten extremely lucky a couple times, but also very unlucky once or twice.
