Download the latest firmware from Sony's website, put it on a USB disk (PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP) and do a system update.

Why won't quick formatting remove the Hen installed

Because this is not PC and fw is not installed on HDD.

Install OFW. This will get rid of modifications leftovers.

I tried to do that but it stops at 67% then shows data corrupted

Restore in recovery menu. I'm afraid I don't know anything about hen, but if you have one of those 12GB models, something else may be wrong, because when I got my super slim 12GB out of the closet, I had removed the hdd and sold the hdd, only to buy a new one a year later. Anyway, the old stuff was still on the system, by that I mean the old account, and saved settings. The old hdd was formatted on the computer too, so that must mean a copy of things must be on the emmc.

I agree. Iirc, the PS3 just overwrites data when formatted on the system, so there's a lot of junk data leftover.

That's right. Quick format will remove the bare minimum without wiping out the other partitions. Full format on the other hand will do a proper format, but it's extremely slow on the PS3.

Best way is to do a quick format on a PC, or just break the partition table. This will prompt the PS3 to rebuild partitions for FW installation.
