It appears Sony has released a system update to Firmware 4.82 for the PS3, which is likely to close and patch the recent 4.81 exploit (PS3Xploit) as expected, The update came a bit quicker then many (including myself) expected, but you just never know with these type of things. If you planned to take advantage of the PS3Xploit hacks (Software Downgrader / Possible HEN (Homebrew Enabler) on Super Slims) DO NOT UPDATE TO THIS NEW OFFICIAL FIRMWARE 4.82, Stay on Firmware 4.81. As this firmware is investigated by scene developer's and also as Sony releases official details will be posted/updated in this article.​

Update the PS3Xploit exploit was not patched, thus did not close the exploit. It seemed a bit fast for Sony to patch to quickly, was just coincidence that Sony had a planned update in the works, but I WOULD EXPECT SONY TO PATCH THIS EXPLOIT in the coming weeks. ​

 

How can I stay on 4.81 and go online without that I have to update to 4.82?

Is there not a method to go online with 4.81 till there is a solution?

Not much, Same as before .. This was expected, (but just a week or two later)

Only issues with this update is that some people may know of the exploit whomay of wanted to use it and they update to 4.82 before knowing not to.

Once the leak happened of some of the files, Sony had enough to patch. The team wanted to be finished and then released



No doubt a dumb move, but they usually are and serve no purpose.

A bit too early to tell for sure without a proper port to test but it doesn't appear that webkit was patched... And the kernel remains the same as well apparently...
The exploit should still work on 4.82...

You said that the software flasher isn't going to work for >cech 25xx
Would that also include the consoles >cech 25xx who went through MinVerChk and have a base firmware of 3.55 or below?
Sorry to hear about the leak btw, I really hope it won't demotivate you to release this exploit, you're doing a service to the community

3.56 or lower base will work.
Later with the help of webkit exploit it should be allowed to execute hombrews. At the end would be lv2 exploit and patches for vsh. The last stage would be lv1 exploit and then full cfw

Full cfw is very hard for now. I don't even know if there will be lv1 calls with vulnerability.

 

i get myself a hang on 4.82 after changing compatible version to that one. probably the offsets changed or something got removed. we'll see

There is a solution....its called the OUTSIDE. its that big thing thats on the other side of the door to your house... maybe you should explore that for a while until a spoofer comes out.
