PS3 Weird PS3 superslim high temperature

Hi, i have just bought a superslim model for about 40 euros, the console itself was never opened and incredibly dusty, its the model 4004a 12GB.
So, i opened it up and cleaned+repasted with arctic MX-4 pea method.
The temperatures were pretty high, like 1hour idle xmb i had 66c on the CELL and 68C on the RSX with 30% fan speeds.
So, i have decided to repaste again , this time spreading the paste completely on the CELL IHS and on the RSX chip, and i have also added a 2mm thermal pad under the CELL just like i did with my old CECHB-01 for better contact.
Now i have with 1hour idle xmb , 65C on the CELL and 67C on the RSX with fan speed of 28%-29%.
Is this ok for 4004a? My other slim has way lower temps, but components are different, this CELL and RSX look a lot like the ones in a FAT (except RSX comes without IHS).
My Room temperatures is high, 35-36c, and the console itself is place under a desk, vertically.
Also, i have installed a SSHD 1TB which runs pretty hot even inside computers, like 40c.

Do not look, the temperature of your console is correct because that of your house is high (35-36°c). You should be careful because the current ambient temperatures are too high to hope to play with PS3s which end up overheating (or not cooling well enough).

My PS3 is at 64 on cpu and 61 rsx using syscon fan setting %26 on stock thermal paste just while watching a movie off the HDD do I also need thermal paste? Goes to like 72 on cpu while playing last of us as well

Like algol said, with that ambient temperature you should be worring about your body instead of your console..

Replace that old paste and apply MX4 or GC-extreme, both are cool. It also depends of your current ambient temperature, it's dinamic and pretty relative.

@sandungas, there's something interesting that OP might have for you.

60° and 62° idle. High temps on my house too
Console 100% clean and cheap paste applied
4214B 2016-present, since ive got my ps3 this temps gets same

Thanks for the advise :encouragement:

@xspartantt the next time you boot the PS3 please use the app mentioned at top of this wiki page (under the banner with the crying cat)
https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/Platform_ID#How_to_get_the_Platform_ID
How to use it:
*Plug a storage device into any USB port
*Install and boot the app... choose the Syscon Error Log function... then the app automatically quits and returns to XMB (there is no display on screen, this is normal)
*A file with the name "sm_error.log" is created on the storage drive
*Open this file in a text editor, take note of the platform id
Paste the text in a forum post, and please tell us the motherboard name, it could be very useful for documentation purposes :)

Motherboard is MPX-001, i had this checked myself when i had it opened and cleaned.
The CELL cpu has the heatspreader, same as you find on a FAT model..
The RSX gpu is basically same as FAT model with delid lol

Yeah, these temperatures are the usual here in Italy around August :D

Oki, bad luck for me, i was looking for a CECH-40xxA (12GB model) with a MSX-001 motherboard, thx anyway :)

Your temperatures are not so bad, i would not use the thermal pad though, for the method to spread the thermal paste i use both: first a very thin layer (spreaded with a transparent plastic) + a little rice grain at center

Btw, if you open the PS3 again, keep attention to the "mobile" parts of the heatsink, one of the alluminium blocks should be loose (in other words it moves in/out the heatsink "body")
This range of movements is really needed because is allows to adjust his heights independently from each other
The way to check this is by taking the heatsink with your hands, and moving one of the blocks in/out... if you see the block gets stucked at some point thats bad... the solution is to move the block back and forth 400 times to "loose" it (in other words, we need to prevent it to get stucked)

Why didn't you got an ssd if you have temperature problems?

Perche non hai preso un ssd se hai problemi di temperatura? ovviamente un hdd se poi bollente come dici tu contribuisce al surriscaldamento della ps3.
