PS2 Where to find up-to-date OPL compatibility lists?

Do you know the differences between the latest stable version and the latest beta version? Does the latter contain features and is it more compatible than the former? Beta versions are often released.
Latest beta 1.2.0 version should improve compatibility since lots of cleanup was done, some bug fixes too, RAM and CPU improved, etc, we know some problematic games are now working fine.
Then there's also ZSO support, exFAT support, fragmentation support, and other features that make 1.2.0 go above and beyond 1.1.0 and 1.0.0, so give it a try.

and I can't find in GitHub versions with "rev" in their names;
Rev is "build-version"... 1908 and so on...

PS2-Home OPL Game Compatibility List mentions some OPL versions that aren't mentioned in GitHub (those which start with "r" or end with "_db");
Because... those are NOT... OPL.......

I am planning to use SMB via a TPLink AC750 TL WR902AC Travel Router , how are you doing it ???
Keep in mind that there are different versions available of them.
I have a "v3" with OpenWRT 19.0.x on it and it works fine.

Are the transfer rates really better than usb???
Is that a serious question??? :P

also is it faster than using the dvd drive ???
Depends on the game and the situation/place I guess??? (!)

do the stuttering FMV's really go away and do the games load faster ???
Do we really have to answer these questions again and again? A simple Google search shows videos comparing the ddvices.

May I ask if you are using a USB HDD or thumb drive and does the USB HDD require an external power supply or is it able to run via only the usb port's power ???
I would not recommend relying on the PS2's USB-Power!

So, the latest stable version doesn't support ZSO?
There never was a stable release with ZSO-Support. The last stable build is 3/4th year old...... ZSO is 2 or 3 months old.....

Is it a format like .RAR, .ZIP, and .7z
Rather like CSO.

and if so, would OPL be able to read ISOs inside it
... It is not "inside"... It is just directly compressed......

and would the games lag?
Depending on the device and the game and maybe even console-model, it CAN introduce lags and slower loading-times, but it works quite good now!

How much does one gain in terms of space?
Entirely depends on the original dump from the original game disc.

Is there a ZSO compatibility list?
I don't remember if there is one.

I only see french notes in Algol's lost, not english ones too. Sorry, I didn't understand how some changes can indirectly cause/solve compatibility issues.
...and we rather don't waste the time explaining it...

Anyway, I'm worried if I play some games that even though at the beginning they work fine, they may have issues some time later, especially towards the ending. That would be very annoying. I'm also worried about stuttering on FMVs or if the newer OPL releases broke something that worked before or if I should risk and try games that didn't work before them.
"RISK and try games that didn't work before them"????? "Risk"???????

Also, I don't get it why I was told to not use PS2-HOME's OPL versions but compatibility lists regarding them are mentioned here. This also goes for PS2-HOME's tutorials and other things.
Because it is an old bugged fork.

Thanks man, no lag faster loading . I am getting a router probably the TP Link it's available on amazon in my country .
Make sure to get the "v3"!

The fragmentation and ExFAT support will make it VERY easy for Noobs to install their games. ZSO is the awesome bonus to save time copying images and to get more games on the same medium.

But the other user said he wasn't aware of any improvement in the beta versions regarding game's compatibility.

Do you know of a ZSO game compatibility list and how much space can one free by using it?

Then it should be mentioned that way in the compatibility list.

If they're not OPL I think they shouldn't be showed.

I thought the latest version was from September, so not 3 or 4 years old.

Why not explaining it?

Yes, imagine losing a lot of time playing a game to find out it crashes near the end.

Ok, but if they are old bugged forks why are their compatibility lists mentioned?

You mean the latest version of that Router right?? I saw that the older ones don't power usb External HDDs but the new ones have USB ports that can provide upto 5v 2Amps , the HDD I am planning to use says 5V 1Amp on the sticker at the top.

Keep in mind that there are different versions available of them.

1.What is OpenWRT ?? is a bios or something that you have to flash to the router or is it a software that requires an extra PC to run on the side because if it requires an extra pc then my whole plan is blown because my idea was to have faster transfer rates and just take my ps2 to my friends with the router and USB HDD attached .

2.Can't I just use the router with the stock BIOS like Versatile did in his setup videos ???

3.Also which model is your PS2?? I have 2 scph 90004 models is there any noticeable difference in terms of smb ethernet transfer speeds between the older slims or the fat models with the later 90004 slim models??

I already did so how are they not useful if they tell if the game works or not?

In my compatibility list, the games that do not work are "clearly" indicated there, you just have to open your eyes. From the "Device" column, if the background is red in white writing, it means that this game cannot run on the device mentioned, it is simply obvious, no need for comments to understand this. After, there are "Check Mark" in the columns of the tested revisions.

But there may be instructions in french needed to be followed to make some games to work.

I may start the tests because I am an "old" curious. If I attempt these tests, I will list them in an additional column and I will be most happy to communicate "our" results to you (my friends and myself) without forgetting @Peppe90 and all the strangers that I cannot name here.

Will you add the results in english?

But the other user said he wasn't aware of any improvement in the beta versions tegarding fame'a compatibility.
Because IT DOESN'T HAVE TO... Game-compatibility can be fixed via other means than only debugging one game directly...

Do you know of a ZSO game compatibility list and how much space can one free by using it?
I don't know such a list and ~1/3rd can be saved. It depends on the game.

Then it should be mentioned that way in the compatibility list.
WHAT...? WHAT should be mentioned in the compatibility-lists???

Why do you KEEP doing this FULL-QUOTE NONSENSE???

Quote the thing you want to answer to and not the whole block...

If they're not OPL I think they shouldn't be showed.
That 'sentence' makes no sense whatsoever!

I thought the latest version was from September, so not 3 or 4 years old.
The latest "stable RELEASE Version" is from September 2021... The Betas are DAYS old... Where do you get the other nonsense from again?

Why not explaining it?
EXPLAINING WHAT???

Oh, I know the answer to this question... Because you are incapable of single sentence quotes after a year of pointing it out and explaining it to you.
If someone can answer one of these "in the air" sentences with no relation to any topic or sentence, it is by sheer luck AND YOU COMPLAIN, that not all of your questions get answered?!

Yes, imagine losing a lot of time playing a game to find out it crashes near the end.
I imagine how you start using single sentences/paragraph quotes, instead of clotting threads with your incoherent word salads.

Oh... No... I can't imagine it.

Ok, but if they are old bugged forks why are their compatibility lists mentioned?
Because that's what they were tested with?
A 5 year old can come to this obvious conclusion...

You mean the latest version of that Router right??
IDK, if it is (still). "TP-Link TL-WR902ACv3"

I saw that the older ones don't power usb External HDDs but the new ones have USB ports that can provide upto 5v 2Amps , the HDD I am planning to use says 5V 1Amp on the sticker at the top.
Maybe... I got it ('v3') due to better OpenWRT-support.

OpenWRT is an alternative Router-OS.
You can do much more with it!
You don't need a PC to run games, but to flash the router (IF YOU CHOOSE TO)!

2.Can't I just use the router with the stock BIOS like Versatile did in his setup videos ???
Sure... I would still get the 'v3'...

3.Also which model is your PS2??
I can't list them all here. Lol

I have 2 scph 90004 models
I have both versions of it as well...

is there any noticeable difference in terms of smb ethernet transfer speeds between the older slims or the fat models with the later 90004 slim models??
I haven't quite compared SMB on FAT vs. Slim in a long time.

One shouldn't have the need to do that.
We shouldn't have to deal with serving you every dip-shit on a silver-platter either. :D

The Rev number, what do you think?

I don't know how to quote only certain things and I guess it would take a lot of time doing it (especially on the phone).

Why doesn't it make sense if y'all said to not use these versions?

From GitHub. It says the 1.1.0 version was released in September, not in 2011 like you say. I was talking about when the latest stable version was released, not the latest beta one, so I don't know why are you talking about the latter too.

I'm the moron when you can't even know what I'm referring to? I said I didn't understand how some changes can indirectly cause/solve compatibility issues and you said you rather didn't waste the time explaining it so what would I be referring to?

Also, I'm not the only user using full quotes and I have to figure what the other users are referring to and unlike you I don't complain about it.

Then just ignore me, don't you think?

No, it isn't, since y'all said to not use those versions, don't you think? If so, why would one show compatibility lists, talk or make tutorials regarding them?

Thanks for the help , really cleared all of my doubts .

Don't try to twist your stupidity on me. It is you who continues to fail making proper quotes.

I don't know how to quote only certain things and I guess it would take a lot of time doing it (especially on the phone).
For the third or forth time... You Mark a sentence and a small pop-up can be seen.

You can make multiple of these and when you click "insert quotes", it will add them all as single quotes.
Then you can easily write between those quote-blocks.

It's also blatantly obvious how to manually split a full quote via square brackets and the word "quote" within.

Why doesn't it make sense if y'all said to not use these versions?
I will not repeat what you have been informed of before and just forgot AGAIN.

From GitHub. It says the 1.1.0 version was released in September
Yes, it was which is what I told you.

not in 2011 like you say.
2011??? WHERE have I written that??
I wrote September 2021 above!

I was talking about when the latest stable version was released, not the latest beta one, so I don't know why are you talking about the latter too.
You are a lost case... *facepalm*

I'm the moron when you can't even know what I'm referring to?
I was answering to a specific of your sentences and the context is OBVIOUS...
I obviously knew what I was answering to.

A 5 year old CAN understand, why there are old and Beta versions in these compatibility-lists...

I said I didn't understand how some changes can indirectly cause/solve compatibility issues
For example: One of the recent commits saves 40KB IOP-RAM and hence games where we used too much IOP-RAM might now work and there ARE multiple now which DO work now.

and you said you rather didn't waste the time explaining it so what would I be referring to?

Also, I'm not the only user using full quotes and I have to figure what the other users are referring to and unlike you I don't complain about it.
I point the same out to many users (when I see it in the PS2-Section).

Then just ignore me, don't you think?
I can't, because I am a Mod on this forum and active in the PS2-Section.

It would be a deralation of my DUTIES as a MODERATOR.

No, it isn't, since y'all said to not use those versions, don't you think? If so, why would one show compatibility lists, talk or make tutorials regarding them?
A list gets build up, over time and updates to the software happen.

Your strawman fell apart again.

Regarding your "don't you think": I should ask YOU this, but changing the position of the words.
Thank you, offer rejected! I DO think!

@NiamAlba Please don't do these full-quotes!

@NiamAlba Please don't do these full-quotes!

What does not being able to make proper quotes has to do with that Rev subject?

I don't recall you saying that 3 or four times. Regardless of that, it's obvious for you but anyway, just imagine doing that in the phone when you need to quote a lot of sentences.

You confuse others and then you say it's my fault?

If I'm a lost case then why do you keep answering me?

Especially if he is told to not use releases from another site and the recommended compatibility lists mention them.

If so, you confirm that I'm not the only one doing bad quotes like I told you and so I don't know why you attack me so much about it when other users do the same thing.

When I said "ignore", I was talking about not answering me. You're forced to answer to all users asking for help just because you're a moderator?

Since when? If one says to not use releases from other site the logic says to not mention tutorials and compatibility lists regarding them or at least remove them after finding out they shouldn't be used if the motive was only found afterwards. How can you say you think after this?

But the other user said he wasn't aware of any improvement in the beta versions regarding game's compatibility.

Indeed, I said I'm not aware, and also specified that I was referring to the "debugging of problematic games"

Also I mentioned about the indirect effect on Super Dragon Ball Z.

I'm not a developer, however for making a general example, there can be a game that sucks most of Ps2 memory, so lightening/cleaning up some OPL code (that's running in the background) can affect it in a good way. And generally, the more OPL comes close to DVD reading timings the higher the possibility of fixing bugged games.

If OPL works with SSDs, why is it said it only works with HDDs and not HDDs/SSDs?
