PS2 Which are USB keys compatible with ps2 and OPL for PSX games?

EDIT: i tried this. I copied 3 of the 10 not working games into my 64GB usb key (not it is completely full), adding them to the intial 101 games. The 3 games as i said perfectly work on that usb key.
Then, i copied all the contents from the 64GB usb key to my pc and finally i copied those contents into the 128GB usb key: and the 3 added games perfectly work!!
So it seems that if i add a game directly into the 128GB key, it doens't work, but if i add it into the 64GB one, and then i copy everything into the 128gb, the game works! But this doens't have any sense! :confused3:
NOw i would like to add the remaining 7 games but i don't know how to do that... i could remove 7 games from the 64GB usb key and add them and then try to copy everything (not only the 7 games) to the 128GB usb key.

It seems that there is a file or something like that that is updated into the 64GB key and not updated into the 128GB key, but i don't know if this is possible... there isn't any file like that..:confusion:

yes, as it perfectly works with all the games i tried until now... it is a really strange issue this one :( It is impossibile that if i add games into a new USB, they don't start, But if i add them in my old USB they work perfectly. And this happen only with the new added games...

I tried another USB key, a 256GB: i added all the folders/files from my previous one, but this time i added only a couple of games from the working 101 and a couple of games from the new not working 10: the games from the 101 working, perfectly start. The 2 from the 10 new ones, don't!!!!

As I said, you are using a version that might not be functional (and you are seeing it when adding more games).
My advice would be that you use a reliable version such as the official one and then rule out possibilities.

thanks, i used that software and after a couple of hours the feedback is OK, the usb key is Ok.

I think this:
1) i put some of the 10 games into the 64GB usb --> then i copy into my pc --> and finally into the 128GB usb --> they work.
2) if i directly copy the 10 games (or some of them) into the 128GB usb key --> they don't work

The same if i try to use the 256GB usb key.

I'm formatting in FAT32 every usb key using the default value of the Allocation Unit size: 32768. I don't know if using this value in the 128Gb and 256GB it can create this issue...

Here the default value for the 64GB:

and here the default value for the 128GB:

I tried again to add 2 additional games (from the 10 not working) in the same way:
1) first of all i added them into the 64GB key (before to do that, i deleted some games from the 101 working game as i don't have enough space)
2) then i copied the full content of the 64GB usb into my PC
3) i formatted the 128GB usb key (I don't know if this is a mandatory step) and copy all the content from my PC

The 2 additional games perfectly work...as the first 3 games i added before in the same way...

I will try to add the missing 5 games in a quicker way:
A) add the 5 games into the 64GB usb from my pc, as usual
B) copy them again from the 64GB usb to my pc (this time avoiding to copy the full content of the usb key)
C) copy them from my pc to the 128GB (this time without formatting it and avoiding to copy the full content)

but it is really strange, i really don't understand this behaviour!

What OPL are You using and which POPStarter. What versions exactly? If You using OPL DB, no one will help You because it introducing several and serious POPS issues, which normally not exist in POPStarter.

yes i'm using OPL DB, it's about years that i use it without any issue :/ I don't know which is my current POPS version,,,how can i verify this info?

If i overwrite the opl file with the regular version, i would have to manually create more than 110 .elf file...and probably i will have to add artworks and additional activities as i read that standard OPL works in a different way regarding POPS, so i have to change and modify a lot of stuff...

In the meanwhile, i completed the test i described above, and the 2 additional games perfectly works once i transferred them from the 64GB usb key...

i discovered the issue! The cause of the problem are the SLOT0.VMC and SLOT1.VMC
For a strange reason, if i run a game for the first time into the 128GB usb key, the PS2 isn't able to create both files correctly. But if i create them using the 64GB usb key (or if i copy them from a folder of another working game), the games perfectly works!
It is a really quick and simple workaround :)

PS2 don't creating any VMCs.

OPL DB is known with PSX VMCs issues due to way how it launching POPStarter which starting to have issues with deleting/writing to them which normally doesn't happens. :)

Thanks for sharing the solution, maybe it will help someone else.
However, precisely because of these errors and more, the official version is recommended.
greetings.

That's not really a solution. OPL DB bugged POPStarter which made zero bytes VMCs, that's why he failed to run. Real solution is overwriting them by raw psx mc image, no matter where or by what created. ;p

This will happen again.

It is a solution for the user, of course it will happen again and they will perform the same procedure again.

You missed the point. :P It is not a solution to making vmc on pendrive on which game works... but making anywhere and replaced empty file broken by POPStarter which was break by OPL DB. And that's a temporary solution. Permanent solution is to drop OPL DB and start using OPL and POPStarter on which such things does not happening.
