that is luckyYeah, I was lucky when I bought my current PS3 (CECH-2503A) from a friend. At the time I just wanted a new PS3 since my old fat model (CECHL03) basically died on me after many loyal years of service a few months before that.
A few days later I was reading about PS3Xploit 1.0 which had only been released ~2 months before, and fortunately when I ran MinVerChk it had 3.50 so was CFW compatible![]()
i only have about 4 ps3 game discs so i dont really use the disc drive. The biggest difference in between CECH-21xx and CECH-25xx is something practical for repair purposes. They moved the bluray controller chip to the main motherboard (in all previous PS3 models this chip was located inside the bluray drive)
It means since CECH-25xx the bluray drive is not "married" with the main motherboard
If at some point some of the bluray drive parts stops working you can simply replace it without need to worry about remarries and stuff
Or you could remove the bluray drive completly, because the main motherboard doesnt needs it. Lets say... a CECH-25xx without the bluray drive is fully compatible with standard CFW's and all homebrew, games, etc... Obviouslly if you remove the bluray drive you are not going to be able to play/dump optical discs but thats not a big problem
I'm pleased you got hold of a CFW compatible 25 slimthat is lucky
when i bought the 2503, i was still waiting for it to arrive but i did some more research and found out that only few 2503 could be jailbroken. you can imagine what i was like, i was hoping mine was the cfw compatible but luckily it was.
bet now that you know how good your ps3 is, you will be doing the thermal paste wont you?
Next time I play something for a while to get a fair reading, I'll find out what sort of fan speed it's at. Idle I would imagine mine will be similar to yours, but again I'm not sure. All I know is the fan isn't loud and temps cannot exceed 68℃ (set in wMM - fan speed will increase to keep it at or below 68).thank you
problem is, your ps3 is over 10 years old so the thermal paste must be on its way out soon.
when i do get another ps3 slim(2103a or b) i will do the thermal as soon as it arrives.
what is your fan speed?
when i did my thermal paste few days ago on both ps3, i got up to about 67 and it stayed there still after an hour on idle with fan speed at %24.
when i did the test, i left muliman on so i can see the temp and left it as that for just over an hour and the temp stayed at 60 cpu and rsx 62 for the 3003b and for the 2503b i got 66 cpu and 67 rsx. i think if i put the fan speed to maybe 30 or 35 then the temp will go down to what i was expecting first time round which is below 60, maybe around 55 cpu and 55 rsx.Next time I play something for a while to get a fair reading, I'll find out what sort of fan speed it's at. Idle I would imagine mine will be similar to yours, but again I'm not sure. I did that, 3004 white housing with 2504 console in itBtw, you could try to see if you can replace the white plastic shell of your CECH-30xx with the internal parts of the other slim with CFW
Not sure if all the parts matches with each other, but this would allow to have a white PS3 slim with CFW![]()
Cool, not sure if you was aware but maybe comes in handy eventually, there is people that used the PSU from CECH-30xx (different dimmensions, and a bit less watts) in previous PS3 slim models, but they had to modify the plasticsI did that, 3004 white housing with 2504 console in italthough I had to damage some plastic inside
BC Phat...either A00 or B00 everytime. IF you can find one in decent condition that hasn't YLOD yet you're golden. If you're not afraid of using a screw driver and have built your own computers in the past then you'll be fine. Most important thing to monitor and keep an eye on are your temps. Also have a stash of spare parts handy like a backup Bluray drive, a BMD-001 logic board and a couple of fans. I have these stashed away in a closet just in case my current ones give up the ghost.hi guys
i was wondering which one is the sought after to get?
is it the ps3 phat 60 gb japan version with ps2 hardware emulator, 20xxa or b, or 25xxa or b?

If you're going to go the BC route, then jailbreaking, installing CFW and webmanmod is a must.
The attachment shows my current temps on my A00...
In the beginning it was bad and it grated my nerves. After 4 yrs of it I don't really hear it anymore. How do your ears survive
