PS2 (WIP) XtremeEliteBoot+ (a powerful alternative for FMCB)

Ah, for thoose saying that my project it's a FMCB clone or something... well I will just say:
Did FMCB haves language emulation?
And that's just a function of XEB, there are more...

edit: and yeah, I just disclosed a festure of XEB+...

Ah, I almost forget. If someone from Cuba want's to contact me to help with the project, here's my phone number: (+53) 54175062

I already recieved a mail from a translator who wants to translate arabic. If you agreed to work toguether with him, send me an email.
The arabic charset works properly on the PS2 side on every XEB+ related app.
@HWNU I suggest you create a Github Page and forward the site to the GitHub Page!
A GitHub page makes no sense since I will not release the code right now.

The objetive behind XEB+ and the differences with FMCB:
I hope this will answear a lot of questions, since I already have my inbox full of them.

XtremeEliteBoot+ objetives?
1 - Add more functions to the custom OSD it's the main objetive.
What does this means? FMCB and XEB+ are OSD replacements.
The PS2 Browser it's the console's Default OSD, but it haves his limits, by example: Language and Video mode. If your console it's from France, you can not use Japanese as language and also you can not use the NTSC video mode on the browser.
2 - Be noob-user friendly is also an important objetive.
We tried to make it as intuitive and easy to use as possible.
We thinked in every difficulty a user could have and tried to find a way to find an intuitive solution.
By example: Launch games using PS2ESDL or ESR with GSM patches applied... and apply these patches just with one button.
Well, XEB+ haves a quick GSM button on the main GUI, you can just press it to apply the default (PS2) video patch then launch PS2ESDL or ESR.
XEB+ also includes a quick GSM default PSX video patch for POPStarter.
As I said, we tried to make it easy to use and noob-friendly.
3 - Break the language barrier is another important objetive, mostly if we want to be really noob-proof.
Is true that we are talking English here on this forum and it is kinda universal, but there are a lot of people on this world that can not understand it.
By example, I have seen a lot of users on the 3DS scene bricking their consoles because they fellow a spanish Youtuber's video with wrong instructions 'cause they can not understand what says on the original release thread at gbatemp.

What diferences does XEB+ haves with FMCB?
1 - While SP193 focus the develpoment of FMCB on compatibility with more PS2 models and entry points, I focus the development of XEB+ on give more functions to the custom OSD.
2 - XEB+ haves some extended OSD features (like the already disclosed Language Emulation) and some other patches/stuff.
3 - FMCB and XEB+ both launches from the same entry point and both allows to launch applications from the Memory Cards or USB devices.
4 - FMCB requires the user to configure where the apps are and how to launch them.
XEB+ comes with a default location for each application and they are crosslinked in every possible way.
The applications get's installed on the default location by the XEB+ installer.

Language Emulation?
That allows, by example to use Spanish on a Japanese PS2.
It applies for every game or app you launch on your console.
By example: You can configure XEB+ to use Spanish as default System Language and then boot any game using ESR/OPL/PS2ESDL/HDL... and it will boot in Spanish, even if your system's language it's Russian.
That patch it's made on the fly once the PS2 starts up, so it does not affect you system's configuration.
The language emulation's configuration is saved on your Memory Card.
Also, I will not call it "Language Emulation", since XEB+ is most likely the new console's OSD, so... it is just an "extended system language support".

I want the PS2 buildings back, can I have them?
Yes, I have received this question more than 5 times.
First I tried to understand what they mean, and then I realize that was the buildings you have on your PS2 when you have played a lot of games on it.
Yes, you will have them back, but not on boot. You will be able to see them if you use the "Exit +" option on the XEB+ menu (even with video patches applied).
I never guessed they were so important to some people.

XEB+ will be MC only or we will have HDD too?
For the January / February release, it will be MC only.
On a later release I will include HDD support.

I have a console with BIOS v2.30 or newer, what can I do?
If you have a modchip, this will be a piece of cake.
I already released a teaser of how you will be able to launch XEB+ on your console from DEV1, so you can try it right now.
If your modchip can not boot from DEV1, you can always burn a custom disc image to help you boot XEB+ (just use the same ELF I provided on the teaser).
If you have no modchip, you always can use a swap trick.

I never heard about, did you have any other projects published?
Mostly of my PS2 related projects were published on SceneSpain.net
I was registered there under the looooooooong nickname "Howling Wolf Naru-José".
Since I team-up with Chelsea_Fantasy, we published all our projects together under the Howling Wolf & Chelsea label.
All of these project are for the 3DS scene.
My PS2 projects:
USB Installer: An alternative USB games installer. Nothing special. v3 adds covers to your games while installing.
PS2SX: An extended GUI for PS2PSXe. It bundles all the PS2PSXe versions, allows game specific configurations, supports cover arts, etc...
XtremeEliteBoot (2012): Private project I am improving right now and will finally be available to the entire world in 2018 in the shape of XtremeEliteBoot+.
My 3DS projects:
SOON! (Super cOOl iNstaller!): A legal CIA installer for the Nintendo 3DS. "SOON!2" is actually the world's fastest CIA installer.
HowlingThemeTool: The only tool that allows you to install 3DS custom themes like official themes. It generates a CIA file that works like an official DLC. The other available homebrew apps install themes as extdatas and they never appear on the theme selection option of the 3DS home menu.
Gimme 300 coins!: Nothing special, just a quick way to have 300 game coins on your 3DS.

you didn't have to bring that up we should forget about that and constraint on xeb you're just making the drama worse.

4 - FMCB requires the user to configure where the apps are and how to launch them.

If you mean something like copying the program to PS2/GAME/YOURAPP, I like that idea. :D

XEB+ comes with a default location for each application and they are crosslinked in every possible way.

What do you mean by crosslinked? I really hope it isn't memory card filesystem "magic" like FMCB's multi-installation option, as that is breaking the filesystem. I tried to get rid of that feature, but unfortunately it is something that some people wanted (i.e. they want FMCB to work on all consoles with minimum space cost).

The applications get's installed on the default location by the XEB+ installer.

But can we copy the files over on our own, like for the PSP? I love that simplicity.

The language emulation's configuration is saved on your Memory Card.
Also, I will not call it "Language Emulation", since XEB+ is most likely the new console's OSD, so... it is just an "extended system language support".

IMO if it has nothing to do with the rom0:OSDSYS program, you should brand it as a standalone dashboard. This is something that FMCB won't be on its own and you should be proud of.

Breaking free from the proprietary stuff is good. Then we have no more dependencies on board-specific stuff.

It's a sign that you are a PlayStation 2 veteran. When you are an old player of PlayStation 2 games, your boot screen will be filled with towers.
The towers can only grow when the user's play history is updated.

However, this feature (of updating the play history) was missing from FMCB until v1.90. As well as in OPL, until v0.9.2. Swapmagic does not do this either, so I do not have such a thing... even though I had a PlayStation 2 since 2007. :(

no, is not that

if you want to update the existing ones, yes, you can update them by your own

now, for more apps (by example, use emulators), I have been working on a expasion module

A GitHub page makes no sense since I will not release the code right now.
A Github Page is not for your source code, it is for an unlimited bandwidth site. You can configure it so you don't have to change the domain name and the site will not go down with how many people visit it. As long as you have access to the DNS settings for your site you can reroute it to the Github Page. I host two different forums using an 301 redirect via html iframes. I encourage you to google a tutorial on how to set it up so you won't have to have multiple sites to host your awesome product!

@HWNU I took it upon myself to transfer the site over so you didn't have to go through the headache of doing so since I've done this so many times. The site is www(dot)xebplus.ga . I am emailing you over all of the login information used to created the 3 accounts to set everything up. I hope I didn't overstep my boundaries, I just want to help! I am sending it to your howlingwolfandchelsea account, if you'd like I can add the download page to the site as well! Feel free to change all of the passwords to the accounts I send you as they are now yours! Hope this helps!

I sent today the XEB+ Main App translation files to the Spa2Eng translation team, so the rest of the teams (from English to ???) can have a proper English translation on monday.

Tomorrow I will send the rest of the strings to the Spa2Eng team. This time will be the companion apps strings. (Yes, I finished most of the companion apps code, at least I have all the program functions done and working, the only thing I need to code are some functions to avoid crashes or errors).

Anyway, among with these files I sent to the Eng2Spa team, I sent some "guide" screenshots from an old Alpha version. Here they are if you guys want to take a look. They are all in Spanish. Once the proper English version is done, I will take and upload English screenshots from the most recent version 0.90:

PD: if anyone haves an idea for a better "System Default" flag, I am all ears!
