(Xbox) 1.6 Xbox Solderless X3 no boot

Which Console are you inquiring about?

Recently dug up my old 1.6 Xbox and drives from way back when and wanted to move the data to my PC for emulation/to have a backup. My main goal is to unlock the drive which seems feasible without the console, but my only IDE adapter doesn't like FatXplorer and I don't have a motherboard old enough to have IDE.

My memory may be hazy as its been 20yrs, but I vaguely recall chipping a 1.6 Xbox had a chance of blowing some component especially with that spider adapter which I know now was.... not great (think a fuse?). Only one I could find was on the PSU which is good continuity wise and sadly, most of the resources from back then are long gone. My symptoms are a firm no power (AC cord works fine on my 1.0 console) and the caps look fine far as I can tell (no leaks/bulges and even the clock cap looks good).

My question is does anyone remember reading this and which component it could be? Racking my brain as I remember as a kid it worked fine with a softmod up until I tried the solderless nonsense and spent an evening with my stepdad trying to fix it. So I know my install did "something", but it has been buried in a box for so long I can't remember for the life of me.

Also apologies in advance for the bad prefix. I know this is primarily a PS forum but looked through a few Xbox threads and figured I'd try here and there was no suitable prefix besides "none" that gave an error.

By soldering modchip you not risking blowing anything as long your soldering skills are good enough. Modchips not killing console. I don't really know to what you refer exactly. I don't remember if Xecuter have any solderless solutions either.

Most of USB controllers for PATA does not translating fully atapi standard, i.e ata commands for ata password could be unsupported. Plus, you need to know your ata password key to unlock it; and keep in mind that original BIOS will refuse to start dashboard from unlocked HDD.

xbox-scene.com have/has lot of valid tutorials.

Can't find the exact model but this was that "spider" adapter.

I learned a lot of adapters don't play ball, but is xbox-scene live? I cant load it.
