PS3 xRegistry editing

@Peppe90 what is your minver and console model, CECHxxxx?

Not sure if youve said already, but your minver decides if you are installing CFW or HAN, and they are 2 different process, and you are mixing them both up talking about writers and han installers.

EDIT: ok, i see you are on superslim, so HAN it is, STAY AWAY from the flash writer. its not for your console.

Yes, CECH-4204C

Another question. I need to be logged into PSN (with my secondary account of course) or doesn't matter??
'Cause it keep failing to initialize (but maybe it's just my internet connection).

Make sure you have exploit page set as homepage, and you close and open browser in between every exploit attempt. you need to do that for every exploit you use until you get setup and HAN Toolbox installed.

You dont need to be signed in.

Ok done. So now I can just copy the xreg into the pendrive, edit it on pc and overwrite the Ps3 one, right?

btw: HAN Toolbox even has dedicated option for it, as you need to only dump one, but restore 2, as it checks if they match. If you use the dedicated tool it copies both at once, tiny bit quicker is all.

What do you meant? I'm now copying xRegistry.sys into the pendrive. I'll then edit it on my pc. After that i need to re-copy it into the Ps3 twice?? Second time in a different path I think?

Nah you're fine, you just need to copy it back to dev_flash2/etc/xRegistry.sys. The path should automatically fill in when you select dev_flash2 on the file copier :)

Perfect :encouragement:

So notepad won't work for editing it, I need the program you suggested me in the previous page??

P.S. It takes about 5 minutes to initialize the copy and failed 2 times… Lucky that I have the day off :D

I have to enable HAN every time I reboot the Ps3 to make the file copy to work??
Nope, but you must use stoker25's app to mod the xRegistry. If you don't know what you're doing you could send it to a trusted member here to mod it for you. I say trusted because the file contains email addresses and passwords, you don't want to share it with just anybody.

It's so difficult to use this program?

However I'm stuck. The fact that all is done by the browser is a huge problem for me... I never used the Ps3 browser, it's tremendously slow for me and just freeze the Ps3 most the times (it happened before too one time).

I still can't extract the file.

...To be sure, maybe in the file copier the usb names are inverted?? dev_usb000 is the usb port on the right?? I'm using this (having my USB device on the right port).

What?? I just see a option in the file injector that seems to be made for my purpose. Hope it will work

EDIT: It worked first try :D

Yeah the file copier was mostly intended to copy files to flash, and to copy files from the PS3's internal hard drive. AFAIK it's the only HAN tool that does the latter, but man, I'd be lying if I said the success rate is good. I might optimize it when I can.

But it's probably my connection too. I've a slow one and quite unstable (it's via radio waves). However with the injector option it worked really quick but… Once on PC I just found my USB device corrupted (luckily I was using one just for this purpose).

I'll do another try, powering off the console before to disconnect the pendrive.

I changed the setting from this:

to this:

and saved. The Header value remain 1 though. I'm done or there's need to do more??

It actually changed the XMB to ntsc 480i. Unfortunately I can't say if it's running at 60hz (my tv show it only from component or HDMI connections).

Once in game, I think it depends. I tried DMC 4 and it just keep running at 50hz. There isn't any color or resolutions changing from XMB to game, so it's possible the game is running at 50hz but in ntsc colors (and even 480i?? mmm, I think it's not possible to have 480 50hz...).

I tried a couple of PSN games and they seems to run at 60hz (but I can't tell for sure. I'll test them with another tv on which I can see if video is at 50 or 60hz).
Maybe the PAL version of DMC 4 doesn't have the possibility to output 480i 60hz, but only PAL resolution/refresh (aside HD modes). I think I'd need to patch the game, or to use a program like GSM for Ps2.
PAL-PSN games though could have both region standard included (?). I'll check this out with my other tv.

All this for the SONY's cunning to not put a 50/60hz option…

Anyway Thank you again. I see there are a lot of good functions (the one for the temperature i.e. really useful for not let the console melt, in the summer :D ) and is all enough clear even who is clueless (like I was) can do the job in one evening.
