XtremeEliteBoot+'s Dashboard Special Xmas Showcase

PS2 XtremeEliteBoot+'s Dashboard Special Xmas Showcase 2022-12-25

What are the differences between XEB+ and FMCB and can the latter be installed in every PS2 model and without having installed FMCB first (so, when hacking the PS2 for the first time)?

Good morning
and thank you very much for what you do, it's really great to be able to navigate on your ps2 in this way!!
everything works well for me except one thing, my screen freezes when I insert an ESR patcher DVD, it works very well with a classic DVD and even the Swapmagic DVD works. Do you have a solution for me?
thank you again for your work ^^

Soy desarrollador tambien. Un saludo inmenso.

Greetings from Cuba, my brother. You fill us with pride. Your work makes us speechless. Thank you for keeping this console alive and for continuing to bring new updates. I have installed Xtremeelite for a few years now and it is great. The version I have is the Christmas showcase, and I would like to know if you have planned an update with the functionalities that you have completed up to this point. Also, if there is any way I can help you, let me know. I am a developer too. A huge greeting.

I will fix some stuff in order to make a proper release. There's not too much stuff left to be coded, actually.
Also, keep in mind this is an English-speaking forum. While is true we both speak Spanish, the rest of the users here probably not, so, please, as stated by the forum rules, provide a translation next to your Spanish message or, simply type in English directly.
Also, I don't deserve that much praise. There are better devs than me here. I just coded something showy...
Greetings from Cárdenas.

PS: Have you coded any PS2 app so far (even private test ones)?

Hello, how do you put more apps at the start?
Everything you need to know is in the provided documentation. Read every document inside every XEB+ folder.

Also, read the documentation provided with most ready-to-use plugins as they explain how to install them.

This doesn't seem to be compatible with mechapwn, i have my slim set as a DHL unit using mechapwn and whenever i try to launch xeb+ i end up with a black screen that flashes an error.

XEB+ is compatible with MechaPwn.
And, if you want us to help you troubleshooting, you should provide the error details, not just state that it "flashes an error".

I'm a developer in my professional life, i KNOW that it would've been helpful to list the specific error code. HOWEVER in this instance the flashing screen was too fast for me to even read hence why i left this out. I DID however end up figuring it out. it seems that there is a lack of documentation on file structure. YES i DID RTFM and it stated to extract to root of USB i did this, and THAT is why i had the issue.

you have the file structure packaged as follows:

> xebplus_xmas_showcase.rar
XEBPLUS
XEBPLUS

the documentation i read said to extract XEBPLUS to root of USB so my file structure ended up as
root
> APPS
>CFG
etc

when it should have been:

root
> XEBPLUS
>APPS
>CFG
etc

i would recommend in the future packaging it properly so that the end user can simply just extract to root of the USB.

It can be recorded with a phone and, then, pause the video to read it.

That's actually wrong too.
You should simply paste the provided XEBPLUS folder in the pendrive, as is.
You don't need to move the APPS and CFG folders out of it. In fact, doing that will cause a crash.
The structure is properly provided: a single folder called XEBPLUS which must be placed in the root of the pendrive (not the contents of the folder, the whole XEBPLUS folder, as in mass:/XEBPLUS/).
It is not that hard.

Then you should create clearer documentation. also, what i wrote wasn't taking the apps and cfg folders out or miss placing them i was simply listing things as they are but this forum doesn't seem to like Tabs for indentation (hard to show folder parentage in text without indenting.) the confusion comes from the way this is packaged. Once this comes out of WIP you will most likely have more user-induced errors like this just because of the way the documentation is packaged and the lack of clarity. Especially when everything is packaged in a rar file with a password (srsly whats up with that? a simple EULA would've been fine.)
