PS3 4.76 FERROX NO-BD CFW by Alexander

Here is some news for those PS3 console owners that have a broken BD Drive and/or logic board as CFW developer Alexander has released 4.76 FERROX No-BD CFW. This firmware is users who have a broken BD Drive and/or Logic Board and thus are unable to boot any apps (official or homebrew) from the XMB, thus making your console pretty much useless.[break]sss[/break] However thanks to the NO-BD CFW it solves this issue for those consoles.

This CFW is for Consoles (PS3) that have a broken BluRay Drive and/or Logic Board and are unable to boot homebrew and official apps from the XMB, This firmware solves those issues for those "broken" consoles.

Remember that this is a CFW NoBD! This means going to completely disable the player, even if it works! If you install it by mistake, re-install a CFW Standard, and the player will again be enabled and running!

Well I did some testing and it seems that the bd emulator dex option requires a functioning daughter-board to generate the fake bd icon.

afaik that method was introduced due to those non married bd users that converted from CEX with the very old conversion method.

I'm not sure, I do have a spare bluray drive but I already married it to the ps3 so I can't test.

Okay, I've tried looking for help. I've used Google for days,so bare with me please. I'm trying to get black ops running on my ps3, which doesn't have a blue ray,and I'm on rebug 4.78 nobd. I've tried with and without cobra, all sorts of settings in iris,and updates...so far I've made it as far as freezing with a black screen just after boot,and not just this game. I've had other games work. Is it becuase I need a disc? Also I'm wondering if I can install regular rebug (I can manage to install becuase the daughter board is noticed,but its not the right one, and the ps3 seems to constantly have blue light on, so the motherboard somehow is screwed.) Will I be able to run games after I install it, and then remove the daughter board? Or will I always get error? Something like cobra which I understand emulates the drive.

Now, I did spot this yesterday, and gave it a try but idk if it worked or not, as I can still use my USB...maybe becuase I'm using rebug 4.78?

If your USB key was still accessible then something went wrong.

It should work even without a daughterboard but I don't have 100% confirmation.
I cannot really test it myself because on my slims there are no daughter boards to unplug. (it's integrated on motherboard)
If you really cannot connect another daughter board. (because of broken connector or whatever) then you should try again following all the steps atreyu187 gave you in the other thread.

Also remember to leave cobra disabled. No cobra & no mamba on your Rebug noBD.

Read the release notes as well on the brewoligy site where you download Fake BDEMU pkg.
Don't forget to report if you are successful..

if the logic card is damaged (physically and is not recognized by the motherboard), any CFW will install, this installation will fail at 70%.
For this there are the noBD versions.
If it only damaged the lens (ie functional logic board), the installation will go to a successful conclusion, but many games will not be mounted properly.
