PS3 4.78.1 REBUG REX (D-REX) + COBRA v7.20 (w/ Rebug Toolbox v2.02.09)

Team REBUG is back again with a new Custom Firmware Release to enter the 4.78 Custom Firmware Era with 4.78.1 REBUG REX (D-REX) + COBRA v7.20, and as always the firmware has equipped the latest REBUG ToolBox (installs via Install Package Files). This may mark one of the fastest REBUG REX releases to hit the scene after an official firmware while that alone may be impressive about this release, Team Rebug also has some additional features to share in this CFW release for 4.78 user's.. The first change is that XMB Manager Plus (XMBM+) is now [break]sss[/break] supported in this firmware, XMB Settings (by Mysis/Sandungas and mods by littlebalup/aldostools) have been added to the firmware and can be toggled on and off via the newly updated REBUG Toolbox (v2.02.09), plus webMAN MOD (Rebug Edition) has been updated to v1.43.25 and has been integrated into this CFW release. Then of course REX (D-REX) comes equipped with the COBRA v7.2 payload, bringing you all those features found in this chart.

Team Rebug has very well documented release notes, and they can be found at the official website, so be sure to visit rebug.me for all the details and usage surrounding this CEX-DEX hybrid that we know as REX (for CEX users) and D-REX (for DEX user's). Also be sure to view additional 4.78 Custom Firmware Releases & Homebrew in this chart from our psx-place.com forums for all the latest 4.78 related releases.

Thanks you to all rebug team , joonie the stage 1 and 2 source from github can be use with other fw like ferrox without modify it?

I'm on Rebug 4.76 now. Do I need to disable Webman or Cobra before update?

No

It's more complex than that, really. If your current cfw already has cobra enabled, sure, just change the binaries and cobra will be updated, but adding cobra to a standard cfw is a totally different story

pinky thanks for the reply but I cannot remove app home the way you advised just I'm not to clever in that department. any chance you could upload the two edited files if you get a chance. Thanks

The webMAN settings are not changing the language to Portuguese.

Here is one way you could do it (and if you learn yourself then you will be able to do it next time when new FW comes out :) ):

1. Copy and paste the 2 files to a USB stick using Multiman file manager (press select+start to access multiman filemanager while in multiman) (the 2 files are in dev_flash/vsh/resource/explore/xmb folder , they are called category_game.xml and category_game_tool2.xml)
2. Make some backups on your computer.
3. Open the files on you computer with notepad++ (free app)
4. Open the files and search for "<Query
class="type:x-xmb/folder-pixmap"
key="seg_gamedebug"
src="#seg_gamedebug"
/>"
5. Delete that entry from both files and save them back to your USB drive. (make sure to only delete that entry exactly and not anything else)
6. Go to multiman settings on your ps3 and enable write access to dev_flash, its at or near the bottom of settings list.
7. Using multiman file manager copy and paste the edited files back to dev_blind/vsh/resource/explore/xmb folder from your USB.
8. Reboot your ps3 and its done.

Be aware if you really mess up your xmls you could have to reinstall fw.

Thanks will try this now

There is a Debug Settings category in the network column , can you get rid of that ?
Is this cfw safe for PSN play ?
Something has changed in installing PSN Patch ? I needed to swith to rebug mode to install it
Any chance for a Lite edition or a patch to make it Lite ?

If Sony updates the firmware again in the next few weeks it will be some proof they're responding to REBUG and it will be time for some thinking. . . I assume most people who have a jailbroken PS3 and just want to play games rather than tinker with homebrew do not want this constant updating / spoofing shenanigans. I sure don't!

I find funny im not mentioned in the credits for the xml included with mysis cfw settings but instead are mentioned the names of the people that modifyed my xml, just saying :rolleyes:

It took me some time along several days to create that file, included one semibrick while testing, and several experimental versions with other ideas for multilanguage support and other things that was not included in the final release

Edit:
And btw, i like the modifications other people made to the .xml by using another depth of subfolders, this was actually in the plans but not completly decided how to group and hide/unhide them and mysis released it without advising me

Amazing! Team Rebug excelled in the speed of this release , it is amazing how the scene is active and very productive. :chewy:

I see several releases of CFW stardard being patched to work with ReActPSN , someone could explain me why REBUG is the only one not to be compatible with this Homebrew ? I know it's possible to do the same with the PSNPatch , but honestly I could never turn anything for him (;--;)

sorry for bad English :BRAZIL:

The webMAN settings are not changing the language to Portuguese.

REBUG itself does not come with any extra language files. you will need to install "FULL" version of webMAN MOD via installer or previously installed files.

1. No one knows how safe it is to play online while on CFW. The only thing I know OFW is the best for that.

Turn rebug mode via Toolbox
XMB Operation Mode to RETAIL
Then it will become "LITE", no more debug setting will be appeared under Network Setting (not column)

Can I also install straight from Rogero 4.55 CFW without losing game data or other problems? Thanks!

You will have 0 problem

ReactPSN 3.20+ works fine here while COBRA is activated, you can however try reactPSN 3.17, and Do NOT disable syscalls while using reactPSN as the MOST homebrew rely on those SYSCALLS that users want to disable for safety
