PlayStation 3 CFW developer Alexander has released the latest version of his FERROX CFW, following the release of PLAYERKP420's 4.78 CFW. This CFW from Alexander while a Standard CEX also (like platerkp420's) does contain some additional features and patches for PS3 Custom Firmware users. In this edition of FERROX the developer has Disabled Cinavia, Removed Epilepsy Warning on the console boot, A new feature in FERROX firmware is an Integrated Package Manager to replace the standard Install Package Files. Anyone noticed freezes when loading the xmb ? I use Mamba + Webman 1.43.25 + Psnpatch 2015.11A , gives freezes in both Ferrox and Playerkp420 . HDD seems to be fine , 100% health

Does it freeze if wMM has never been installed?

You should proceed by eliminating possible culprits. It could come from xml modifications. If you backed up your original xml files (as you should), you could try to restore them temporarily to test. (You could also extract the xml files from the PUP, if you didn't backup the files)

In the end you might have to try reinstalling Ferrox altogether, then test without Mamba first. Then test with Mamba. All this without wMM. See if you still get xmb freezes.

tried using this CFW, im still not able to play metal gear online (for metal gear solid the phantom pain), it kept not detecting the MGO update file i downloaded from playstation store..does anyone has this kind of problem too?

im using psnpatch (and pressed X after entering psnpatch) before entering psstore & psn..previously i used rebug 4.76 with psnpatch and had this problem too..

i ve got a ps3 cech 3003a and OFW 4.78

i got the ferrox CFW 4.78 and it gets to 70% then says its corrupt

so i tried the PLAYER CFW 4.78 and after the ps3 reboots it says corrupt as well!!!!

Help what is going on?

Cech-300X can't be jailbroken. Only some 25XX and all lower. But in most cases (25XX> ) you need also hardware flasher.

Best choice is any ps3 with 3.55 firmware or already jailbroken. Because only on 3.55 or lower you can flash CFW. For higher firmware hardware flasher (and skills) is needed.

Check eBay UK out for a slim already on CFW or on 3.55.
Once on CFW, the region isn't an obstacle anymore really, it can be changed. All games can be played, you could get an american console & play UK games on it. [MENTION=361]Puffdragon[/MENTION] sells consoles in the US if you want to check him out. He's got good rep & he might even prepare the console for you with your requirements.

The PS4 doesn't have CFW yet, I am sure it will come though. Be patient, the PS4 has just been jailbroken last month (officially at least).

Hey.. i install this cfw but i got problem with webman. For example, i mount from webman folder the nfs most wanted game and when i go back to xmb it shows 1 folder named "Playstation 3" and the game start if i press X on this folder. After this, if i try to mount call of duty from webman the folder it says loaded but when i go back to xmb if i press X to "Playstation 3" Folder the game doesnt change to call of duty. it remains on nfs most wanted. for mount other game i must restart my ps3

You cannot. It's not that simple.
First of all you need to have downgradeable console. Either a FAT or a slim but only models up to CECH-25xx. Some 25xx can be downgraded others cannot. Anything above 25xx will not work, with these consoles your only solution is to buy & install a Cobra ODE.
With an ODE installed you can play backups on an external hdd but you will still have a OFW, not a CFW with all the featutes.

If your console is a downgradeable model then you will need a hardware flasher to downgrade then you'll be able to install a CFW. You need some skills to downgrade a console with a hardware flasher. Go to a professional for this, it will cost you less money too.

If your console is not downgradeable then you should probably get rid of it & buy a second hand slim already on CFW.
