4.93 EVILNAT (Cobra 8.5)

PS3 4.93 Evilnat w/ Cobra v8.5 - (CEX/PEX/D-PEX) 4.93

@Evilnat @zecoxao

It seems like the debug settings "Fake Region Settings" and "Fake Other Region" don't fully configure the system to the selected region. Is this the official behavior, or are we missing some flags?

I mean, it appears to be simulating other regions because certain settings change/appear, but the system doesn't act like it.

See here, it's the string for the epilepsy screen, when you turn on the PS3, there are two strings,

"msg_health_warning_start" for all regions and "msg_health_warning_start_scee" for european ones, i set my american system to Europe and set the FAKE OTHER to ON, still reads the "global" text instead of the scee.

When i tested on a legit Europen ps3, it read the scee line just fine.

Hmm... seems like the "Fake Other Region" option is resetted every boot, maybe we are missing a flag for it.

I had noticed that also in Customfirmware Tools>>> Fan Tools ' minimum fan setting appears to be 40%, which for some of us that have re-pasted/de-lidded with great temperature results, may still be a bit high for idle for some. +1 to the above requests, would be nice to have this feature 'baked-in'. Thanks for all of the work you do

For the interim: I will say that WebMan Mod has been working fantastic for me with managing minimum fan speeds below 40%, from xmb use shortcut :dir left: + :but select: to lower minimum fan speed, and :dir right: + :but select: to raise (5% increments).
great thanks a lot i will test it to see which fan speed will give me good temps

That is entirely your call. This far into the beta stage though there's not gonna be many fixes. It's starting to normalize better. Most feedback I've seen seems to be minor glitches that don't really affect much. For me it works good enough. But for sure the final stable builds last I heard are close in range. Don't ask for an exact eta. You'll know when it arrives.

How do I toggle between Cobra PS2 hardware and software emulator on this? Previously there was an option for software vs hardware. I want to verify its using hardware emulator.

I have a cecha01 and I am trying to troubleshoot why webman mod pad shortcuts don't work inside ps2 isos mounted via webman mod menu. I cant check fan speed or temps in game including in the ps2 emulators home button options. Yes, webman mod is updated, currently on Lite mode.

webma does not work in ps2 mode. all ps2 games are rebooted into ps2 mode. this unloads webman in both cfw and hen.

if you use cfw, you can check tempd using this. again, hen is not supported.

Oh, thanks. I'll try this out.
Any thoughts on checking/toggling the ps2 emulator mode?

There's nothing to check/toggle. The system boots into PS2 mode when you launch a PS2 game and reboots out of it when you exit said game.

I think you might be misunderstanding my question. I am looking to toggle and/or verify which way Cobra is playing my PS2 games. I used to have a toggle between hardware emulation and software emulation. I can no longer find this option anywhere.

Hmm, yeah, maybe Rebug Toolbox used to have that. I guess Evilnat didn't bother because it has no real purpose - I don't think there's a single PS2 title that runs better on the software emulator than on full-hardware or semi-hardware. Also, even the software emulator 'takes over" the entire system, and it's not possible to access webMAN MOD or load games from USB disks using it.
The only case that I can think of where you'd want to force the system to use the software emulator is if you have a broken EE/GS chip and PS2 games don't run at all as a result.

That's understandable. I have no real interest in using the software mode, I just wanted to be 100% positive it's using the hardware mode instead.

You may be right, I used to use Rebug toolbox a while back, maybe it was in there. Is there a patched version for 4.91? I tried using it yesterday after updating to 4.91.2 and it complained it wasn't going to work.

Still hoping for a 4.91 CFW with a 650/750 overclock :P

Well, when you mount a PS2 ISO there should be a small message on the upper right side of the screen saying which emulator is being loaded -
ps2_emu.self - Full hardware (CECHA / CECHB only)
ps2_gxemu.self - Part hardware (CECHC / CECHE only)
ps2_netemu.self - Software emulator

We're testing overclocks up to 1GHz in the other thread, currently testing the core running at 800MHz and memory reaching up to 1000MHz. (Everything is fine in both of my systems, 2001A and 2501B)

The safe overclock we've found so far is 700MHz for the core, as some consoles may experience artifacts in certain games besides that.

My CECHA01 is delidded and has replaced capacitors and some other small mods. I used to use the Evilnat CFW with OC, though I forget what the clock values were... Is there an easy way to set this 4.91.2 to 650 core, 750 memory? I found the other thread regarding overclock but the .self files are only for 600/750.

Sadly this is not the case for me. I mount the ps2 iso using webman mod, and it shows me two screens one after another on the top right.

The first says "/dev_hdd0/PS2ISO/[gamename].iso"

The second says ""[game name]" loaded".
