4.93 EVILNAT (Cobra 8.5)

PS3 4.93 Evilnat w/ Cobra v8.5 - (CEX/PEX/D-PEX) 4.93

PEX is CEX with DEX capabilities; P as ported from Rebug REX 4.84.2 as far as I know. For most people, it is for all intents and purposes a CEX CFW.

Oh, thx for the information, my ps3 is on the last firmware 4.91, current is running hen 3.3.0 with the firmware 4.91, i want to change to cfw because hen itself have some issues sometimes when trying to play metal gear solid 4 the game don't open and you have to brute force shut down the PS3 by removing the power cable or holding down the power button. And watching a video on youtube a guy called mello, said that the cex itself is the best solution to use among cfw itself. I think is best to watch some videos and try to install (for now) hen 3.3.0 on this HDD i already bought a WD HDD of 1TB and 5400 Rpm. The model is: WD10JPVX 1TB. And cfw itself when is finished with all the features including cex itself. The idea on my ps3 here using is to install the games by pkg file (i don't pretend to use BD on it.) And if possible to install a external HDD of 2TB for more space. If anyone here have some good hints and even tutorials on video to do all of that will be very good. And i hope in the future we have a full unlock on the ps5 firmware! Best regards from Brazil and from myself \m/

Hi @Evilnat

I have the original (never modded with any CFW) BC Phat model CECHE01 (released Nov, 2007) with OFW 4.84. It currently reads and plays my large library of PS2 discs flawlessly. I have been reading comments regarding BC PS3s with CFW 4.91.2 evilnat - cobra 8.5-beta10 having issues and failing to run PS2 discs. Has this issue been fixed in beta10 ? or do you recommend I install CFW 4.90 evilnat - Cobra 8.4 to retain PS2 backwards compatibility ?

Thanks for your time and support.

I want to restore the vanilla ps2_netemu.self as it seems the custom emulator this CFW comes with is buggy; it produces a graphical bug on the right side of the screen when using custom configs on GTA San Andreas. Interestingly, this bug does not occur on a Super Slim with HEN, using the .pkg and the same custom config.

In summary:
  • This bug DOES NOT appear on a Slim with CFW when using the official PSN config
  • This bug DOES NOT appear AT ALL on a Super Slim with HEN, no matter whether I am using a custom config or official PSN config
  • This bug DOES appear on the Slim with CFW when using a custom config
This leads me to believe that the source of the bug is the modified emulator itself, so I would like to reinstall the official Sony ps2_netemu.self, without the temperature readings or any other bells or whistles. Is there any way to do this?

Use qcma.

I am talking about the CMA on PS3, not PC. And if you were saying "don't use the PS3, use PC" then no it's a pain to export PS3 PS1 content from PS3 to PC, then importing the save to PSVita through PC. We have a direct connection between vita and PS3 let's not force us to use PC in between.

No, does it require an internet connection? If not, we can bring it back

CMA still exist on PS3 and still works if the psvita firmware version is not higher than 3.71, but it ask for a PSN connection to be able to use it (the same thing than youtube requiring PSN, which can be patched, same for CMA on pc which had a patch to allow offline use)

Can you guys find a way to disable PSN requirement for CMA so that we can transfer content between PS3 and PSVita without needing the PS3 to be connected to the PSN? Thanks

Yep, the custom emulator is the source of the bug. I replaced the ps2_netemu.self in dev_flash with a vanilla one, and now the game works perfectly. I think future releases of the CFW should provide the option for keeping the vanilla emulator executable.

If I remember correctly, Ultimate Toolbox has a PS2 selector. There is a beta that works partially with Evilnat 4.91.
If you have time, you could help to restore the other features and keep it updated.

Although it would be neat to have everything integrated into CFW Evilnat, it would take too much space in /dev_flash to include another PS2 emulator. It would be better to improve the tools that we already have.

Anybody know why when running cod mw3 iso, if i want to play online with disabled syscall the game doesn't start (black screen) and if i want to play offline without disable syscall it runs like a charm? :(

maybe this is bug,I installed Evilnat 4.91 beta9 CEX on my 2007B model(since my firmware was just CEX.has no intention to try DEX atm).I can use ps button to boot.but each time after booting.my ps3 official pad keep looking for bluetooth connection.I have to push ps button to shut my pad down. Then push ps button again to have connection,,it happens every time..I only installed Evilnat/webman..no other stuff...so maybe it's only me,,,or you guys have similar problem..not sure..just report it.Thank you for updating.
