Rebug DEX does not exist.
It's either Rebug REX or D-REX.
Either way, if the console is currently in DEX kernel mode, you must use the Rebug Toolbox to convert back to CEX before you can update to this CFW, otherwise you can update directly.

That's it. Same as the previous version.

Only thing that's changed is the way you sign in. Some users have issues signing in with 4.89. I used the "device password" option on my account, then use the save password check box in the ps3 log in. Turn off auto sign in. That's it.

These changes are more a 4.89 thing than a cfw thing though. The process to be "safe" is the same. Use the built in disable syscalls option, sign into PSN. When you're done with PSN, it's easiest just to reboot. But you can also manually log out of PSN and then reenable syscalls.

You are waiting for new ps3xploit version working on OFW/HFW 4.89. It is already finished, yet in testing phase. You cannot install or use any applications without hacking the system first. People which have CFW, can install any e.g CFW so they don't need to wait to anything as Evilnat released his newest CFW about which is this topic.

You must repair it, there is not only none CFW for i.e CECH-4xxx (currently impossible to make) but even if could be installed, You must hack the console first. All thanks to Sony and their time bombs in firmware (there is no technical reason to not installing bt/wifi fw if not responding during pup extraction and installation; in other words if during installation PS3 detect that BT or WiFi is broken, should be just ignore it instead of aborting console fw installation process...). The same shit is with PS4 and probably PS5.

installed on my slim without problem. only strange while copying the pup via ftp (directly to usb connected to ps3) the system was slow, menu slowed down etc when the copy is finished everything came back fast.

Is it even work repairing? I think you can buy a 2nd hand for ~$100.
