PS3 Cobra changes to add full burned optical media support

The Simpsons Game has around 30.000 files . Is this info helpful to create an 1:1 burn ? http://redump.org/disc/31537/
Is it possible now to burn files into their exact position ? So the lens won't get f**** up trying to read them .

You need an IRD file to create a 1:1 image of PS3 game.
https://ps3.aldostools.org/ird.html?q=BLES00142

If you don't want to f*ck the lens, it's better that you use an ISO image accessed from USB, net host or internal HDD.
Unlike PSP or PS2 games, the LBA of the files is irrelevant to play PS3 games from ISO images.

Does IRD help set the optimal position of files on disc ? I would like to recreate the ISO with everything in place . What software can be used ? There's one called PS3 ISO Rebuilder that can use the IRD but it's based on genps3iso .

There are various tools in the header of https://ps3.aldostools.org/ird.html

PS3 ISO Rebuilder has 2 modes to build the ISO: one without IRD (GenPS3iso) and another with IRD.

I was under the impression that PS3 ISO Rebuilder can't create a bootable burn . I used PS3 ISO Tools 1.98 by Rudi, with makeps3iso .
You are saying building an ISO with IRD in PS3 ISO Rebuilder is preferable to Rudi's tool ? Is it more accurate in the placement of the files on disc ( i believe that's called LBA, right ? )

It depends what you're seeking. IRD tools to create a disc image 1:1 with encrypted regions, exact LBA, etc.
These images are intended for Cobra Optical Drive Emulator (ODE)

GenPS3ISO or makeps3iso create unencrypted ISO images intended for Cobra / Mamba / HEN. They are not exact copy of the original disc.
You can burn the ISO on physical discs (CD, DVD, DVD9, BD-R) and they will work thanks to the Cobra changes implemented by deank in this thread.

But will they also work on HEN / Cobra after being burned ?
I see 3 options when creating the ISO : Plain Header , 3K3Y Header or Cobra Header . Which one is recommended for HEN ?

Since HEN is a modified Cobra payload, I suppose you should use Cobra Header.

I would follow what deank said about create the unencrypted ISO with genps3iso 2.0 [or makeps3iso].
Or use the official ps3gen from the SDK if you need to manipulate the LBA.

Unlike Cobra ODE, Cobra/HEN/Mamba payloads don't require the ISO to be an exact disc image 1:1

use plain header. best is PS3-ISO-Rebuilder with a valid ird. then if you want a 1:1 (redump) iso use ps3dec to encrypt it

Those option are badly named, making confusion. I remember discussion about it on Discord, and so far I think it looks like that:
  • "Plain header" is disc image normal *.iso (the only thing which Cobra/Mamba supports from internal/external HDD in PS3).
  • "3K3Y/Cobra header" is disc image with disc key glued on start (used for ODDE, and image I believe was 1:1, which means encrypted).

Yes, but only on ps3netserver side (personally I've never tried as I'm not network fan ;p). For 1:1 game copies we need changes in Cobra for seeking disc key and decrypting disc image on the fly.

For that feature it would be better to modify the plugin rawseciso, due the limited memory space of the payload. Probably it would need additional changes to also support ISO in native file system.

The difficult part is to find developers willing to implement theses changes.

I tried MK Komplete Edition and Kung Fu Panda, they work as ISO in Irisman but i get an error 80010017 when burned . Maybe some updates to HEN can make them work ?

Hello, first of all greetings to everyone!

I'm interested in starting to record my games to use on the PS3 Slim with evilnat 4.90 + cobra 8.4 CEX.

I've recorded some Bluray and sometimes it doesn't work, other times it does.

I also noticed that when I exit the game to the XMB and remove the Bluray and put another one in, it detects it but gives an error when starting, it only works if I restart the console, do you know why this can happen?

And now, what tools do you use to create ISOS and burn Bluray?

Thanks

http://deanbg.com/cobra_stage2_cex_cfw_habib_481_v102_cobra750.zip

Can I play a PS2 disc without making a copy?

Yes, if your PS3 is a backward compatible model (phat CECHA to CECHE). These models can play physical PS2 discs (original and copies) in addition to PS2 ISO or PS2 Classics.

If your PS3 is *not* backward compatible (slim 20xx, 21xx, 25xx or phat CECHG to CECHEQ), you're limited to play PS2 ISO or PS2 Classics through ps2_netemu.

If your PS3 is *not * custom firmware compatible (slim 25xx, 30xx or superslim), you're limited to play PS2 Classics through ps2_netemu using HEN.

Hi, to burned games that are BluRay Dual layer, is the process the same? or because of the second layer is it different?
