PS3 Cobra changes to add full burned optical media support

Hello @deank
1- Is it possible to change the PS3 disc detection to just check if the folder "/PS3_GAME" exist?
(This would allow to create ISOs with any tool)

2- If the answer is true: Is possible to detect the folder on the root of USB and redirect the read to USB0 or USB1?
(It would allow to play JB games just connecting a pendrive, without a backup manager & without having to use a BD/DVD burner)

1) It must be done by looking at disc sectors (not files/folders)
2) Why is this needed? You can always add a check in webMAN's poll_thread and auto-mount a game when proper USB is connected.

Thank you for your answer :)

1) That's what I thought when I looked at the code that check "SYSTEM.CNF;1"

2) The idea of webMAN's poll_thread is good, although I was thinking to be able to mount games even without webMAN loaded (just with Mamba/Cobra payload).

It can be handy to quickly load games & homebrews (without having to use a BD/DVD) and without refresh XMB and then reboot.

It is interesting this thing with the updates, because my burned game Prince Of Persia - The Forgotten Sands (BLES-00840) works without installing the game update. It works after I install 1.01 update, but works without it, too.

The operation is similar to the sharing of backup from custom firmware to original Firmware (this type of hack was using an application that allowed you to convert PS3_GAMES folders in the PSN games)

That reminds me the same behavior with ODE, it was related to LIC.DAT

@Alexander - What did you test?

@Checcolino80 @jonaaa - Are you 100% sure that these ISOs that you used were with ORIGINAL UNTOUCHED EBOOT.BIN files?

POP TFS [BLES-00840] works fine without any updates..
I'm burning POP [BLUS-30214] now and will test it in few mins. [WORKS]

@ Checcolino80 [/ USER] @jonaaa [/ USER] - Sei sicuro al 100% che queste immagini ISO che avete usato erano con ORIGINALI file Eboot.bin intatto?

TFS POP [BLES-00840] funziona bene senza alcun aggiornamento ..
Sto bruciando POP [BLUS-30214] ora e metterà alla prova in pochi minuti. [/ Quote]

The eboot.bin files were not manipulated, however, they made up from other backup made through genps3iso

Well I just burned POP (the same game @Checcolino80 posted about) - it works just fine without installing the 1.01 update, too. Both games that I tested are with original EBOOT.BIN files, so that's the reason if fails with other users.

@bguerville Can we start another thread dedicated to the burned-disc-support? Can you please move all related messages there. I'm sorry I clogged webMAN's thread with this stuff.

p.s. Just for fun I'm burning Batman Arkam City [BLES-00926] to a DVD-DL (8GB) and will report later when it ready. Just for the record: I doubt that it really matters, but I'm using Imgburn 2.5.8.0 and genps3iso_v2.0.exe 108KB (110 592 bytes) from 08-oct-2011. All games with original EBOOT.BIN files.

to use the ird file is requested a 1:1 copy of the game, including the PS3_UPDAT.PUP files, but I wanted to try Ninja Gaiden

You can check the md5 checksum for the EBOOT.BIN of your game. Mine matches. I checked POP's EBOOT.BIN (BLUS-30214) = fb179326b56baf7cf24b5ede1157abf9

Unfortunately I only BLES00389 version (Prince of Persia), MD5 fb179326b56baf7cf24b5ede1157abf9
