PS3 Compatibility List - PS2 on PS3

Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex (SLUS-20238)
Code:
3D 00 00 00 57 44 00 00 01 00 00 00 90 D3 16 00
12 00 00 00 03 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
Fix freeze on pause menu (random freeze). The slowdown isn't bad at all, it's just the jitter that makes it a little annoying. Didn't really get into disabling effects, and I don't think jitter can be improved much from what it is now.

@kozarovv I checked the IQ Remix post on devwiki, and I can confirm it black screens after the publisher/developer logos. This *is* with the blacklist removed. I assume it is something to do with SPU as older pcsx2 versions had the opening sound muted/not playing. Maybe causes an endless loop here?

(just some notes)

(dot hack 1/2/3/4, used the .config mentioned in the compatibility list, it wasn't included in managunz pack or "ps2 gui emulator 2.2.3")
(winhex or hex editor, with 16 columns, 0 to 15 column display, writing the values in as "ASCII HEX", to create the .config patch it describes)

(dot hack gui 1/2/3, has gx patches for it included in managunz pack and "ps2gui emulator 2.2.3")

Assuming Everything worked well, as reported (using the patches described above), and no crashes as the compatibility list reports, as i'm building and installing these later today, just takes a while, unless someone had some issues or something, don't expect to have any issues, but i just mentioning this.

(if you played, the, "sword art online games" for the, vita/ps3/ps4, ...... "lost song"/"hollow realization"/"hollow fragmentation" ............. the .hack games are much better.............
("hollow fragmentation was probably the most bearable", but because those games had no real enduring story............ still extremely boring compared to the .hack games.) (lost song later release on vita, is zoomed further out then the ps3, that was an improvement)

@@@@@@
Try installing the ".pkg" file you have to for "ofw han/hen" you need to on. "cfw or cfw hen" and including the, "resigning" of the ps2 classics package............like the person stated "crash twinsanity" works on "ofw han/hen", that maybe the reason, because the other person stated if you go a page back this information isn't needed to build the package on "hen" and it will run............not sure if that is for "ofw hen", just pointing that out.

Install Place Holder Package First (one time install only)
  1. Get the rap file for PS2 Placeholder R3 (2P0001-PS2U10000_00-0000111122223333.rap)
  2. PS3xploit Resigner to create the signed .pkg for that RAP file
  3. Install, only need to install the Placeholder once
Install PS2 Package File to PS3
  1. Get your PS2 game in a bin/iso format
  2. Open PS2ClassicsGUI
  3. Encrypt (select image type DVD, even for CD images) (will default to CD for CD)
  4. Get the resulting ISO.BIN.ENC (manually set a different folder for it at the prompt)
  5. Go back to PS2ClassicsGUI
  6. Make PKG :
  7. select "cancel" if you don't need to load a ".config" file for compatibility
  8. Make your PKG, sign it with PS3xploit Resigner
  9. use fat usb// PKG_Linker_V2.0_Installer//or ftp (depending on han/hen or cfw)
(in "PS3xploit-resigner", place in "act_dat" folder, "act.dat".....and in "idps_hex" folder, "idps.hex" ....... you can dump those from your ps3 menu, then in the "input" folder, just like the above, place the ps2 classics package in the "pkgs" folder........and .... then "resign_windows"........in the "output" folder you'll have the package you can install)

(to see if crash twinsanity works on the "cfw hen" BY SIMPLY including the .pkg and resigned information you don't need for other games apparently, if your on "hen or cfw hen") (in the first section that .rap file, you need to sign it with your "act.dat" and "idps.hex" files in the folder described above, i think, haven't done that in a while)

Found a speed fix for Valkyrie Profile 2, but the game keeps freezing (even with the game protection disabling config). Game runs 100% speed in the port, but freezes. It seems the timer is still active? Just not sure where to go from here.

I have this WIP config based on Maori-Jigglypuff's and @kozarovv's game protection patch config. I found that kozarovv's experimental config from a year ago had every 0x09 parameter reversed! I'm guessing nothing was patched because of that, and there was no change besides the basic freeze/ghosting fixes. I corrected that (seemingly), and also supplied Maori-Jigglypuff's shadow patches to fix the game performance at a steady 100%/60fps during the Solde port section. However, after I thought I fixed the freezing, a freeze occurred in the forest section of the game...

I guess there's still work to be done, but here's a preview if anyone wants to test. I will quadruple check the config for any bugs tomorrow to see if I can pinpoint what is wrong...seems maybe the current game protection patch is not enough. The forest slowdown can also be fixed as well, but I haven't gotten that far yet.

While it's on my mind, a while ago I was playing Xenosaga I and during a cutscene after the gargoyle boss, the game softlocked around 5:05 on this cutscene:
. Also in one of the cutscenes while Shion is on the ship, while there's a grayscale dream, the screen is black (not a crash).
" I wonder if it's possible to fix.

(shadow hearts from the new world potential fix....notes)

1. replace the modules, in the modules folder with the ones of same name from shadow hearts 2 covenant disk 1
2. use "apache 3" to replace the files, or rebuild the iso using cdvdgen

I think the developers tried to optimize the codes, to reduce game pause when loading assets.............what may be crashing the game when it play videos is, another module remains active and loading whatever.

Its reported that, shadow hearts 3, crashes in the intro video, first boss video or etc. Its not a big deal i'll rebuild the iso using both methods and see if that fixes it.................probably be back in a day.

(remember using "controller remapper" and then "pnach patcher" you can switch the "d-pad and left joystick" and that will fix any joystick related crashes for the game's two prequels and this one too, a low tech method may infact by the correct fix...............most ps2 games don't check file address tables)

I found that kozarovv's experimental config from a year ago had every 0x09 parameter reversed!
Are you sure about that? Not saying i didn't messed it then :D I can't check now, so maybe it was messed. Let's see that on oni example.

3D 00 00 00 57 44 00 00 09 00 00 00 01 00 00 00
C8 F3 1C 00 FF FF 00 41 00 00 43 AC 00 00 00 00
00 00 43 AC 00 00 00 00

ab8.jpg

So green is first opcode, and real address from config, and blue is second. So is kinda reversed, not really since is 64 bit.

@kozarovv I think so, but maybe I am not sure what I am talking about!

Take this for an example. This is a 0x09 command from the original config file:
Capture1.PNG

And here is the view in CheatEngine:
Capture2.PNG

By the way you are describing it, shouldn't the value at 0x2DBDD8 come before the value at 0x2DBDD0? Since the second parameter in 0x09 should be the value after the stated offset... Maybe I am completely wrong, I'm not sure. But the shadow fix I added to the config was working just fine using this method! ;)

Doubling posting a lot these days...sorry about that. :D

In any case, both configs, both normal and reversed, do not fix the game protection. I noticed you did some black magic trickery compared to Maori-Jigglypuff's codes! It is a little condensed (as 0x09 can only take 32 offsets maybe?), but maybe there is something else needed in the config to break the protection? I am completely lost at that point as I barely understand MIPS assembly!

Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex (SLUS-20238)

Will you make the pal versions (1.03 and 2.01) configs too?

I have found that there's nothing inherently wrong with the VP2 config I posted yesterday...seems that the same exact config converted back to pnach for PCSX2 works great. Seems like the config is not freezing due to the game protection at all. So far, the Solde port and all of its areas work perfectly with no freezing. However, going further into the game can yield a freeze (Lost Forest or the area after). Also added a speed fix for the forest as well. It could have something to do with one of the extra codes I added, but not sure.

Anyways, I probably won't have time until later in the week to keep testing. I will continue experimenting with this and see if I can find a solution.

Will you make the pal versions (1.03 and 2.01) configs too?
Yes, I can do that when I have some more time.

(Shadow Hearts 3 - From the New World, FIX results)

(ps2 doesn't really have a program for handling the "iso/image files", like ps1 does with "cdmage"............probably the best there is, is, "apache3" ...... replacing all the modules with the same ones from "shadow hearts 2" and using "cdvdgen" failed to work)

Using Apache3, I created an "iso image" from the game in the drive (which i already used controller remapper to change d-pad to left joystick, before) (click the black arrow pointed to a cd image icon, after selecting your dvd drive with game inside it)...........the .iso file is slightly larger, a few mb i think, and then, i used "PS2 Emulator GUI 2.2.3", to build the "ps2 classics package", and also I "resigned the file" (same instructions you can on this page or the one before it)

The PS3 after installing the packaged, the game booted up fine...........using the usa version, also note the pal 50/60 version worked before too, in a previous test.

(I don't think this game is crashing for everyone, like pointed out with "Crash Twinsanity", if your not building the package file and resigning it, because you don't have to on CFW, then using the iso loader instead, maybe causing or contributing to the issue)

(right now I will try to play to the first game boss, to see if the video crashes the game like it is reported, it may not crash at all, and I will come back and indicate this, by editing this post specifically ........... I suspect that "killer 7" crash reports, on the official list may also be, because of how the image file was built or from not using the "ps2 classic package" when trying to play the game)

EDIT - back in a few hours

Result* = Crash Detail*
(just press start to skip crash/cutscene (s))

"FMV" Plays before First Boss Battle ... After Boss Battle "FMV" Plays .... then in game "cutscene" plays, that recaps apart of what happened, in a "FMV" (flashback), the game switches to and that is where it freezes (freezes same spot with the extra configuration options too)

(this is about right, its not a big deal for playing the game, seems like one of the modules is causing this? however, i just replaced them all and that didn't work)

(no crashes from using the joystick after switching "d-pad to joystick" using "controller remapper", I did get the game to crash from just using the "d-pad" not the joystick after controller remapper) (you can use the left joystick with no problem after patching it)

EDIT

I gave up on this already, but, there was modules released for shrinking dvd9 games like god of war and gran turismo 3/4 into a dvd5 that may work to fix this game, but probably not.

Someone check that config? Its full work now?

@ mrjaredbeta better fps in village than previous,a little fps drop in woods,I didnt get the 1st save point then get freeze....
Yes, freeze in Lost Forest. I will upload a config soon that will fix all freezes and disable effects in forest for full frame rate.

Someone check that config? Its full work now?
I tested it when I ported it and it works. Jitter still exists but pause menu freezing is fixed.
