PS3 Compatibility List - PS2 on PS3

Anyone know if it would be possible to get a fix for Spyro Enter the Dragonfly (SLUS-20315)

It freezes randomly, completely randomly. For example you start up a new game and play as per usual for 30 minutes, then it freezes (music keeps playing.) Another time you start up a new game and do the same thing, except this time maybe it freezes 5 minutes in — totally random — could happen at anytime on any level.

At this point probably you figure what i was suggesting, but just to be clear...

The idea was to pause the game at a point where you know there is a big probability for the crash to happen... you found it could happen inmediatly after first battle, so start by that
My guess is when the game is paused, there are going to be many areas of the memory with an "static" value... just because most of the game functions are in some way of "idle" state while the game is in pause
But... the function that does the security checks probably is not "paused" ever (lets say... it was a high priority for the game devs to keep this security checks running)

Basically, this should result in the values in memory mostly static but the security function still active creating some chaos
Then is just a matter to start doing memory dumps (lets say every 20 seconds) while the game is in the "pause" screen... and see if the comparison of memory dumps gives some hint

Only if you got the proof that the game could crash while in "pause"
 
I really need someone to test this, fixing games without ps3 is hard task :D

Possible fix for VU1 stall. That should allow game to run fine after/in cutscene

if that work, or at least push game little further i will port it for other regions.
 
@Major_Pothead92 I know pcsx2 had a problem with that game up until a few years ago. Maybe the problems are similar? Except the game on pcsx2 wouldn't boot so netemu problem is at least a little different. Maybe it's possible to port the patch and try it.

@sandungas I actually couldn't get the memory dumper to work properly... It would be dumping via reset game menu, hdd light flashing to indicate it was dumping, but the system you just black screen after a couple minutes and no beeps. It seemed that the output Others.set was corrupted, too. Not sure, but I could try again soon.
 
Summoner 2 still crashes after first in game cutscene starts.

Actually when Summoner 2 crash? Is after loading "something" of tempest. That i remember, but does it show little bit of sea after that, or crash before any image is shown?

Edit: Actually here is another attempt that potentially can help.

It works! The game now goes in game, but the character models are all invisible. I can only see sword/attack effects. Everything else looks like it's rendered correctly.

The crash (from before this config) will show the fade in of the ocean/wave and it will fade out to black. It's about 3 or 4 seconds of ingame rendering and sound before black screen.

Ok, now when i was able to break pcsx2 code enough to reproduce that, i can start fixing it on game side. Thanks again for test. :)
 
Possible fix for Wallace & Gromit: Project Zoo SLUS-20647 initial hang
Ignore GIF FIFO state in very ugly way, and nop out break opcode that we land because of previous change.

Edit: While i'm at it, here is possible fix for Bankai Modes in Bleach: Blade Battlers 2nd SCPS-15119
Please note that will corrupt Bankai transition (that fmv a like thing) backgound. But is not big issue i think.

Note for testers, First thing, that wasn't tested on ps3. Second, Bankai Mode is L1 + R1 when you get enough power. Icon on upper left indicate that, like on screen.

Both games: Black screen :( It is possible to return to XMB pressing PS button.

It would be nice to have the feedback from other users.

@kozarovv you're on a roll with these configs. I'll test this as soon as I can.

@johnc123 I'll also take a look at SSX again. Netemu gets hung up on some function related to wiping out on the board if I remember correctly. Do you know if there are other distinct areas where it crashes?

I've tested the game again and it crashes randomly in 3 of the 4 modes.
A first crash always occurs when the beginning sequence of the race starts, but it can be skipped by pressing X fast enough.

The only mode where I only saw a few to none crashes happening has been the warmup mode. This mode doesn't have any spectators or other opponent snowboarders. Your using your snowboard in a relatively sparse environment.

The other three modes race, showoff and freeride are getting crashes randomly. All of them have spectators, while freeride also doesn't have other opponent snowboarders. The maps in these modes are also more filled out compared to the warm up map.

I've also noticed that the crashes mostly occur after a bigger fps drop. Maybe due to more models and filled out maps compared to the warm up mode. But on the other hand I've also occured a crash in the warm up mode.
 
I have specific request to anyone that can test config. I want someone to test this 2 configs from zip file. Test can be done on any game that is known to work without config. I think i figured out something cool, but need that simple test to make next steps.

Point of test is actually simple, does game still boot with attached configs. No less, no more.
