Fixes the elevator switch freeze and shouldn't cause any extra slowdown. Tested NTSC-U version at Ishra's Ark and The Ark Revisited levels...PAL is untested but should work. Thanks @kozarovv for your "d" config as a base. ;)

Still has slowdown/jitter on main menu. Otherwise, game is very playable.

Nice :) Just FYI, i remember that PAL version have 50/60hz selector. That selector launch different game executable if 60hz is selected (something.. ELF). So offset can vary between 50/60hz.

Edit: if i'm right you can use 2 times 0x0E to make sure both ELFs are in 1 config.

Not sure that is still valid.

Now webMAN MOD looks for the CONFIG file in the following paths (in this order) when the PS2 ISO is mounted and the "Auto CONFIG" is enabled (only if the PS2 ISO doesn't have a CONFIG file already):

  • /dev_hdd0/game/PS2CONFIG/<gameid>.CONFIG

  • /dev_hdd0/game/PS2CONFIG/CONFIG/CUSTOM/<gameid>.CONFIG
  • /dev_hdd0/game/PS2CONFIG/CONFIG/NET/<gameid>.CONFIG
  • /dev_hdd0/game/PS2CONFIG/CONFIG/GX/<gameid>.CONFIG
  • /dev_hdd0/game/PS2CONFIG/CONFIG/SOFT/<gameid>.CONFIG

  • /dev_hdd0/game/MANAGUNZ0/CONFIG/CUSTOM/<gameid>.CONFIG
  • /dev_hdd0/game/MANAGUNZ0/CONFIG/NET/<gameid>.CONFIG
  • /dev_hdd0/game/MANAGUNZ0/CONFIG/GX/<gameid>.CONFIG
  • /dev_hdd0/game/MANAGUNZ0/CONFIG/SOFT/<gameid>.CONFIG

  • /dev_hdd0/game/UPDWEBMOD/CONFIG/CUSTOM/<gameid>.CONFIG
  • /dev_hdd0/game/UPDWEBMOD/CONFIG/NET/<gameid>.CONFIG
  • /dev_hdd0/game/UPDWEBMOD/CONFIG/GX/<gameid>.CONFIG

Game seems to get caught up on something with the HUD. This config disables the rendering of certain HUD elements (names, time, etc.) and in turn fixes all of the freezing issues. Health and power meters are shown without issues. This is much better than last config as it doesn't have excess slowdown due to the accuracy command.

There is probably a better workaround that keeps HUD elements, but I lack the knowledge to find it...so this is the best we got for now.

@erebea How are you playing the game? If playing as iso, make sure config is named exactly the same with .CONFIG suffix at the end.

Tales of Destiny - Director's Cut.iso
Tales of Destiny - Director's Cut.iso.CONFIG

Or whatever you name your iso.

Okay...final config for this because its giving me a headache. This one does the same thing as previous config, but keeps the time gauge rendered.

Not exactly sure, but it looks like the freeze is caused by HUD elements "interacting" with the 3D health bar, such as being a graphic underlay. I think the game relies heavily on timing for calculations with this (alpha effects or something), and causes a softlock if one doesn't "go right". By disabling all HUD elements that interact with the health gauge, no freezing stops. The time gauge doesn't interact with the health gauges it seems, so I managed to disable everything besides that. o_O

Game is fully playable despite this, besides some minor slowdown on the first stage of original mode (4 characters). If you're confused by my non-descriptive mess of an explanation, here's an image to illustrate what I'm talking about (PCSX2 has that weird transparent overlay on bottom half of screen not present in netemu, so ignore that):

don't take it as request and I also have tried and still trying to figure, but is there a chance you can take a look at the game Buffy?

tbh, I don't know what to look for or what I am doing at all when trying to fix this game. pcsx2 also had problems with this game, but they somehow fixed it internally, without any patch

I didn't see it on the compatibility list
Can somebody confirm if Puyo Pop Fever and Puyo Puyo Fever 2 (this game has a partial translation btw) works?

Ha, I actually brought this issue up with kozarovv a few days ago while trying to find a solution. It seems pcsx2 still has a problem with the game, but I guess netemu handles the issue a lot worse. You can see in the pcsx2 console lots of text referencing some vifcmd error even in the latest builds. I am trying to locate the source of the problem now, but I'm not making any promises cause I don't really know what I'm doing either. o_O

@honhon Testing and reporting back is the best way to see if it works! Seems like a relatively simple game, so I'm guessing it'll be fine.

@mrjaredbeta i play it from a iso.bin.enc using webman mod ps2 classic and a pkg installed game, both freeze after entering a menu or skit, the system is on hen 4.86.
What is the name of your iso.bin.enc? Make sure you are using an encrypted config and that the name of the config lines up with the iso.

ToDDC.BIN.ENC
ToDDC.BIN.ENC.CONFIG

Do you know which version of PCSX2 fixed issue? I usually can port their code to MIPS, until it is some VU flag shit, or something very specific.

Edit: Can someone try that config helps? SLUS version of Buffy.

Code:
3d 00 00 00 11 11 00 00 0a 00 00 00 01 00 00 00
1c b5 26 00 51 00 c0 10 51 00 00 10 00 00 00 00

Keep in mind that isn't proper fix, but should eliminate flashy screen and, floor issues.
I just want to know that i'm fixing correct stuff. Because last few bugs resulted to behave different on ps3, and pcsx2.. And i can't test on ps3.

@kozarovv Sadly not fixed. :(

Whatever fixes the vifcmd spamming in pcsx2 should also fix netemu flashing (I think).

I've found some stuff...these codes disable a lot of the rendering, but gets rid of the vifcmd error stuff. Maybe you can find something in some functions related to it:
Code:
patch=1,EE,20202094,word,10000015
patch=1,EE,2022b7e4,word,00000000
