PS3 Compatibility List - PS2 on PS3

Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks (SLUS-21087)
Code:
3D 00 00 00 57 44 00 00 0A 00 00 00 01 00 00 00

Here's a fix for the well known slowdown and texture flickering we all know and love. The 0x0A patch skips some character brightness function (separate from the character glow) to fix all slowdown and the majority of the flickering. The game still flickers at full speed in some areas with only the patch, so command 0x20 clears up the remaining flickering. Speed should be 100% at all times through at least the 20 mins of testing, and flickering is *close* to 100% cleared up.

It's possible to see a quick, small flicker, but it is really a non-issue...just making a note of it. Various command 0x20 values gave differing results, but 0xC8 seemed like the best with the least amount of remaining texture flickering. The PAL version will need more testing with this command as it seems to struggle a bit more.

The game can also incorrectly say that your save is possibly corrupted. It isn't, and your save will still work without having to create a new one. Command 0x13 doesn't fix this.

Ports of the GX configs of Samurai and Samurai Dou 2. The headbanging issue still isn't fully resolved, but is very close.

@aldostools You can delete the CUSTOM config of Samurai (SLPS-20178) currently on the database. I didn't realize there was a GX config when I originally made it. Thanks!

@mrjaredbeta the configs are different. I'm keeping both, unless the CUSTOM is reported as a bad config.

@aldostools The GX config should be superior to the older CUSTOM config. I think deleting the older CUSTOM configs is the best choice. :)

Thanks for the clarification. I have deleted the CUSTOM config for SLPS_201.78 only from the online database.

I made the GX version redundant in the CUSTOM folder, so the users that already had the PS2CONFIG database and update to the latest build get the correct version, due the PKG installer doesn't let me delete content.

GX config looks superior, but it is not critical for the game to work, as Sony did not bother to port that config for the other regions of game (including the sequel). Both the GX and old CUSTOM config fix the visible head banging issue, so you can remove the CUSTOM one from the package safely. There should be no visible difference between them.

@Itachixsan Please test this as I may have messed up. It *should* be correct and working.

If you end up playing through the whole game, there will be a crash a little before the final boss. Just save before the crash and post the save here. It will need an additional fix, but I will just need the save file for testing. :)

Back buffer enabled games will not work without a 0x20 command (or disabling the VSync in game, it may break the game though). Not to mention the frame rate needs to be 100% consistent without any drops.

If you turn on the EE cycle skipping in the PCSX2 all the way up, you get similar results.

@nictse Please test, some minor issues are known. But report all you will find wrong.

You can use it manually in the meantime.
Download a hex editor like HxD, make a new file, copy-paste the config and then save it with a filename of your ISO + .CONFIG.
So if your disc 1 ISO is called "ShadowHearts1.iso" for example, the config needs to be called "ShadowHearts1.iso.CONFIG".
Then put it next to the ISO in the PS2ISO folder and it'll get applied.
