PS3 Compatibility List - PS2 on PS3

Anyone possibly able to fix the flickering on Champions: Return to Arms? It is reduced with the config but the map still stutters in places and the game seems to flash a sort of screencap of earlier frames every few seconds.
Hi TrollTaco, thanks for all of your submissions on the compat list. It may be possible to fix this issue and I can take a look at it when I have a chance. I'm a little busy looking at the Shadow Hearts games now.

I appreciate it very much, and trust me I don't mind waiting! I WANT Shadow Hearts to work. Those games are my childhood. specially 3. If you ever need help testing configs let me know.

Did you tried both GX, and Custom config? They differ by different Vif MSCAL timing. One of them should work fine.

If I remember correctly i used both the Baldur's Gate/Champions of Norrath config posted on ps3 wiki. and got the old gx one from managunz and the problem persisted. (Just tried v.1.01 with the Custom and the game black screens after initial loading screen. The config on ps3 compat list only seemed to really affect this version and not v.2.00)

That bug should definitely be gone for good. Are you using the greatest hits (director's cut) version? The config is currently only for that version.

Update: Return to Arms v.2.00 blackscreens with custom config aswell. GX fixes the level flickering but now the character models flicker, the frame flashing still occurs.

Nice! I haven't tested a whole lot with the newest config I posted. Let me know of any character flickering you notice at any point of the game (if any) and I can take a look at it.

I actually have a weird question. Isn't there supposed to be like a texture on the flashlight to make it look more natural and not Half Lifish with the lighting? (On Silent Hill 2 and 3)

Text still appears to be missing in game and on language select screen. but after pressing X on the "blackscreen" it showed text to select tv output and such. Cutscenes played and game appears to be running fine
 
Pretty much gave up on Shadow Hearts 2/3 bug. Seems to be triggered from a specific position on analog stick...slightly in between walking and running. Maybe some operation is going haywire from a specific value or something. Anyways, it's fixed by just using d-pad for movement, so the game is playable from start to finish regardless.

So wait the supposed crashes and such are only from analog? Oh boy i can live with dpad in that case
 
(Analog Fix for Shadow Hearts 2/3) (not a true fix)

Use "Controller Remapper" and change the Left Analog to the D-Pad.

I used controller remapper on a few games already on the ps3, like onimusha1 (d-pad to left joystick)...........for smt nocturne (inverted up/down, and for onimusha dawn of dreams (inverted up/down) ......... add the values to the pnach patcher then patch the .iso...........then........

will test this out later, but, at least the analog stick should work now

(crashes from analog range, may not crash on cloned controllers (on certain ones))

Ok, thank you for test. Looks like game is abusing floating point operations on GS on purpose. That complicate it little bit for us. Can you test another 2 configs? Language selection screen is all that you need to test. First one should show text, but cursor to select language should be broken (not shown, or show square instead of triangle).

Second config is closest we can get to allow GS fix overflow by itself. This config should eventually fix issue at all, if no then is really bad news for us.

@kozarovv I just tested the new Galerians configs. The first one works completely, and the cursor is not broken at all. All text and images in the first area work perfectly as well. The second config works identically.

So both configs work perfectly! Great job. Is the second new config you posted the preferred one?

Thank you for testing. Yes, second config should be little bit safer to use. ;)
 
@TrollTaco My bad, I spaced out with all the stuff going on in this thread. I honestly haven't noticed that flashlight bug. It's different between ps2 and ps3? I'm gonna have to check it out.

EDIT: I just tested and it seems right. There's a texture in front as well as a lens flare when faced towards the camera.
