PS3 Compatibility List - PS2 on PS3

The thing about SSX is I really don't know what I disabled in the current config. I briefly discussed with @johnc123 that maybe a better understanding of the current freeze fix will assist in finding the remaining freezes. As for the snowflakes/perks, I don't think it has anything to do with rendering or math related and rather something that happens when it is picked up ingame. It may be something with the particle effects when picking up, but unsure.

I will continue my work with this game, but my time lately has become extremely limited. Hopefully this game will be fully fixed in the near future. :)

Thanks a lot for your work @mrjaredbeta. :)
I think you said in a previous post that you fixed the freeze occuring when holding the left stick down in the game.

Just a side note: I tested SSX Tricky and it also contains the snowflakes. Picking them up or playing modes containing them don't cause any freezes or fps drops. Maybe it's helpful, but I will test more do find certain patterns.

Since the SSX was a launch title, it could be the reason its game code is less polished than the newer games'. They could have used strange workarounds not implemented correctly in the ps2_netemu, for example.

Yes true, maybe taking a look at other launch titles is more promising.

Retrospective I didn't realize that many titles were launched with the PS2. :D

Madden NFL 2001 and NHL 2001 must be the other titles that were also published by EA. According to the compatibility list Madden NFL 2001 is playable, while NHL 2001 is not on the list. I will check these titles out and maybe they have similar bugs or something else can be learnt from them regarding SSX. Maybe also other launch titles workarounds may help fixing SSX.

Update on Okage: I'm in chapter 4 now. As more characters are introduced to the party, the slowdowns start to get more and more frequent, I guess disabling shadow effect will be necessary after all. Interesting that when Stan shows up the performance magically improves, which I guess happens because when he shows up the MC's shadow is disabled...?

The most demanding part of the game yet was in chapter 3, when the princess is introduced and there are a looot of npcs on screen, the screen freezes for a bit, but is back again when all these npcs go away. I still have a save right before that for testing.

Also I got a random freeze during the dialogue before the bull boss, only thing I could do was reseting the game through the ps3 menu, thankfully it seems to have been completely random and I couldn't replicate it in the other 3 times I had to go through it.(it was a hard boss lol)

No, that's not what I meant. The SSX was developed with a Dreamcast in mind. They had to port the game to a different platform as fast as possible, after EA abandoned support for the Dreamcast.

We can find similar bugs in games which share the same engine, not games released same year. But games released on the early PS2's lifespan could be more buggy programmed due to the lack of the hardware knowledge. And more prone to crashing during the emulation.

hi someone can fix shadow of destiny pal version please i think is possible
I can port it over to PAL later today, unless @Agrippa feels up to it. ;)

can u just play ntcs version?normally if one version of the game works, people won't fix one region.
Untrue. It really just depends on who has what region. Agrippa has been a great help recently with porting over to other regions, and a lot of the times people don't want to play or don't have the specific version that is fixed. Also, PAL version might run a bit better on netemu.

@HeidenNaugler You can try the config posted earlier that disables both blur and shadows. I guarantee that it will be fixed since shadows had a huge performance impact on pcsx2.

@mrjaredbeta port?how?the issue is totally different from ntcs,u will need to create a new config.

by thhe way nevermind the list doesn't specify what is wrong PAL,maybe same issue.

Try Street Fighter Alpha I - III seperately on PS1 Emulator on the PS3 as the games were released for PS1. Or maybe SNES release on Retroarch on PS3.
this collection has things that others don't. even with the complete save there is a new game that only this collection has.

Midnight Club street racing is playable, but the NY city champ never shows up. If I recall - there's a cutscene that would play when he'd get in town. You'd find him speeding around the outskirts. Not sure if the official ps2classic release had that problem, it's not available on the store anymore.

If anyone has a save file when City Champ is supposed to be there, please send. It is probably a fixable FPU accuracy problem.

@chibro Download a hex editing program like HxD, copy and paste the data into the program, and save file as *iso name*.CONFIG

Ex: Shadow of Memories.iso.CONFIG
