PS3 Compatibility List - PS2 on PS3

Well thanks @MadSaint1998 for find and @Agrippa for make that config! So @MadSaint1998 u have same issue as on video? Well it still much playble then on ps4:biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2:
Yes i have same issues on ps3 but its playable, on PS4 looks like the emulator dosen't load the solid ground and walls correctly or something... maybe it needs a fix
The game is super fun, i remember playing it alot back in the day, even nowdays i still play it :smile new::smile new:

The internal resolution of the game is too high for PS3 to handle properly.

What is the internal resolution of that game? The Dark Alliance engine games are known for their 2xSSAA anti-aliasing. Their performance on the netemu is not good according to the reports.

I made some experiments regarding the Valkyrie Profile 2. We know that the protection is not fully disabled on the netemu, using the Maori-Jigglypuff's codes. I have found a way to trigger the protection with a 100% probability. Since the in battle instructions are "GameGuard poisoned", according to the Maori, all you have to do is:
1. Start a new game.
2. Go to the Lost Forest.
3. Skip the battle tutorial.
4. During the first battle group your two units, the hint screen will appear.
5. Finish the battle and return to the 2D mode.
6. Expect a freeze in about 60-120 seconds.
I have prepared a prepatched ISO to not rely on the netemu's internal patching. I have used all the GameGuard disabler codes and three fx disablers (shadows and colour grading filter in the Lost Forest) by @mrjaredbeta. The result is the same, the freeze does happen earlier than using the config file to patch memory (probably a coincidence). Here is the pnach used for patch, the protection's rebuilded codes were relocated to the 0x000FF000 to be used with the 0x42 command:

I did not test the @mrjaredbeta's config. But I think it would fail as well, since not all codes were used for that config (it was made before the 0x42 command was known, so there was a 0x09 command's restriction about the maximum values to patch).

It's another Arc System game, same as Guilty Gear Isuka, at 512x472 60fps.

I have found a way to trigger the protection with a 100% probability. Since the in battle instructions are "GameGuard poisoned", according to the Maori, all you have to do is:
1. Start a new game.

Hm, interesting. I didn't even know there was this separate in-battle game protection. I thought it was all out of battle.

So what you are saying is you were not able to stop the in-battle freeze? Just for testing purposes, have you tried testing without touching the in-battle protection? I say this because the "current" config doesn't touch in-battle stuff at all, and I haven't encountered any in battle freezing. I find it hard to believe that there is a process happening in-battle to check out of battle stuff. I would think the in-battle game protection would only check in-battle stuff while the out of battle would check out of battle stuff, but I could be very wrong though knowing tri-Ace.

EDIT: I did a quick test on PCSX2, and I know it's PCSX2 and not netemu, but I didn't get any freeze following the steps above by only touching the addresses in current config. I have had it sitting for a good 8 mins. I don't have it on the PS3 I am currently using so I can't test right now.

EDIT (again): Oops, my bad, I think I had every game protection code enabled. I will test again.

EDIT: (again again): Wait, I found something weird. I have in battle codes enabled while not enabling any of Maori's "after-battle" codes. Something seems a little off.

Sorry, I was not clear. It should be like that:

4. During the first battle group your two units, the hint screen will appear.
5. Finish the battle and return to the 2D mode.
6. Expect a freeze in about 60-120 seconds.

Gotcha. I just tested again on PCSX2, only enabling the codes before "after-battle" codes as well as shadows/filter disable, and still no freeze after battle. I will test on netemu sometime whenever I have the chance, but I think it should be the same (with the added 15% or so fail rate).

Today I tried 3 times the prepatched ISO, it froze 3 times, the furthest during the Mithra acquire screen. Earlier I tried a prepared 0x42 config with the same GG disable values and Maori's shadows disable patches instead of yours. Sometimes it froze just like that after the first battle, sometimes I was able to play the second battle - once it froze at the beginning of it (yes in the battle mode), other times it froze after the second battle. But I experienced a 100% fail rate.

Every time I am doing everything the same way - skip the battle tutorial, group units in the first battle, fight the same enemies and so on.

@Agrippa and @mrjaredbeta Can you guys make an config for FlatOut 2 with the framerate command fix and the camera fix joined in 1 config ? if possible, im sending in here the 2 configs. The game really improves a little maybe by 5% in those forests race tracks, so i think its a good idea to join the framerate fix and the camera fix configs together. With this done, maybe the game can be considered "Playable" on wiki compatibility status.

Hmm...well, all I can really guess, assuming that the patches you made are correct, is that those methods just aren't viable with netemu. I transferred over the game into my current system with the config currently on the database, split into two groups in first battle, cleared it, and played through a bit through the Lost Forest and Royal Underground Path. I also let it sit in there for around 20 minutes with no issues. This was on the very first try as well as I found failure rate to be very low (maybe around 15% chance for freeze after first battle).

I have no doubt that your codes are correct. I guess netemu dislikes this game as much as this game dislikes cheating. It is very interesting that even patch engine doesn't work correctly with this game... Part of the reason I sought out to create a config for it was to avoid having to pre-patch the ISO in the first place, and now I guess that method didn't work out in the first place? So weird.

@MadSaint1998 Here you go:
Code:
3D 00 00 00 57 44 00 00 21 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
26 00 00 00 AC E5 23 00 24 E6 23 00 41 00 00 00
46 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
I added the other known commands to help with speed. See if that helps even more/breaks the game. If not, that should be the best possible speed without disabling stuff.

I tested it, the game improved a little, it kinda reminded me of the burnout 3 Alternative 1 slowdown fix CONFIG... can you try disabling blur or even bloom ? i will test and see if it does any even better difference. I also noticed the game on PS4 received few patches and now runs 100% full speed

Well, I prefer a scientific reasoning rather than an emotional one. I mean - there must be some logical answer why it does not work properly. Because I confirm that using the config from the database, on the six playthroughs there were no freezes! (who knows what will happen when reaching the infamous Chapter 5 though) So the problem lies in the rebuilded code.

What are the branches 00100A7C, 00100BB4, 00100C64, 00143614, 0014533C responsible for? I set breakpoints in the PCSX2 but the instructions are not executed at least in the first minutes of play. The 0010d138 is sometimes executed when the venue is changing (and once before and after the first cutscene is played in the Royal Underground Path).

It would be interesting to test the behaviour on the original PS2.

Here to finish what I started:

Need for Speed: ProStreet (SLUS-21658)

Code:
3D 00 00 00 57 44 00 00 0A 00 00 00 01 00 00 00
2C 7E 16 00 DA D4 05 0C 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
Full speed fix by disabling overlay effect.

Need for Speed: Undercover (SLUS-21801)
Code:
3D 00 00 00 57 44 00 00 0A 00 00 00 02 00 00 00
20 58 26 00 04 00 40 10 04 00 00 10 08 64 26 00
03 00 80 10 03 00 00 10 00 00 00 00
Another full speed fix. Second code disables the overlay while first code disables some check related to it to further speed up the game.

And there we have it. All PS2 NFS games should be playable on PS3 now! :)

socom 2 and 3 ntsc does not work on slim contrary to what says on the list
I haven't tried those games yet.

@mrjaredbeta can u make a config?

Can you give more detail? I didn't play them from beginning to end but they boot just fine. I'm in America and I usually don't add the PAL versions of games unless I have to and I have the PAL versions. I don't really remember but maybe those work and not USA.

Edit: you said ntsc so yeah most likely those dont work but pal do.

PAL version work flawlss, ntsc however doesn't boot,,it get stuck in black screen.

Definitely something with PS2 HDD support. I looked into it and it doesn't even show PS2 logo. I also tried installing PS2 System Data pkg and SOCOM's virtual partition but still does not boot.

Maybe related to what @sandungas was mentioning a little while ago, but I think netemu just may not be compatible with these HDD games.
