interesting. I touch on the app.db in my last vita tutorial, but I don't really explain how it works. iirc, the position of apps is in the app icon table. they separated by page and position. position goes from 0 to 9 which is where the app is placed on the live area. page is each new "page" in the live area. when you fill up one page, another is created for new app;s once you install something else. I believe pages go up to 10 unless u place apps in folders. then you might have page 20 or 30 and up. I'm not sure how it determines the number of the folder since it doesn't seem to follow a clear pattern. also, u can't add a page to the app.db. the page must exist for the icon to appear. u can place two apps in the same position as well, but only one will appear. this sort of thing is what gets messed up in several people's app.db. additionally, u can only have 100 items on the live area which would be an app or folder in every position down 10 pages. if u have more than that and u have to rebuild the database, the system will tell u that u have too much stuff. the best thing to do in this event is to put the stuff in folders and restart the system iirc. this will make the missing stuff appear. the apps r in the database but hidden since it has no page or position.

edit: btw, the most apps u can have is 500. I'm not sure y someone would have that many apps though. it makes u wonder how large sony intended to make memory cards. I heard that a 128GB card was in the works. can u imagine the price? probably more than the system itself. the 64GB card was Japan only, but it works in any system. I'm not sure y it was Japan only. anyway, the number of apps or games is pretty high. the 3ds only allows 300 games, but u can use a micro sd or sd card with it. I'm using a 128GB one myself. I'm using the same size micro sd card with the sd2vita. I'm also using a 128GB flash drive with my pstv.. :-p

edit 2: wait a second. that's not what this app does, is it? 'cause u can manipulate the page and position on the livearea. ;)
